Tom,
After hearing your "fantasy draft in a Kinkos" story, I was wondering who you have on your team?
Also, during that story you kind of apologized to your guests (John Hodgeman, PFT and David Reese) when you went on the sports related tangent. I find I often avoid sports talk with my geekier friends and avoid sci-fi/tech talk with my sports loving friends.
Might there be a topic in there? Things you enjoy you can't share with your friends.

If you're curious, here is the team I'm currently fielding. I drafted everybody except Chris Andersen and Luke Ridnour.
Jason Terry
Monta Ellis
Trevor Ariza
Chris Andersen
Marc Gasol
Kevin Durant
Joakim Noah
Brandon Jennings
Grant Hill
Luke Ridnour
Tim Duncan
David West
Rudy Gay
-
Marc Gasol
Joakim Noah
Brandon Jennings
These 3 have surprisingly been carrying my teams this season.
-
For a bunch of guys to obsessively follow for five months, that is a pretty entertaining group.
Bombers (Durant, Monta, Jennings) and oddball energy guys. Noah and Birdman put on a show like pro wrestlers.
-
Marc Gasol
Joakim Noah
These 3 have surprisingly been a baseball bat to the knees of my shooting % the last few games.
-
Man, what is up with Luke Ridnour so far this year? Apparently he took Jennings' "He'll be a backup" comment to heart.
-
For those keeping track, Chris Andersen OUT, Jason Williams (non-murdering or motorcycle crashing) IN.
Tom.

So you are playing in a league where you must have at least 1 overly tattoo'd questionable white dude and that's why you had to replace Birdman with White Chocolate?
I also have Jennings, Marc Gasol, and David West on my team. Let's both be honest, David West has been a bit dissapointing, but those other 2 dudes have more than made up for his underachieving. Loving the passion shown and brief sojourns into fantasy hoops territory on TBS and your twitter.
-
Was Jennings some one you looked for? He has been a big surprise.
-
For those following along, Jason Williams OUT, Chris Duhon IN. The thirteen spot is as loose as can be for me!
I should also note that I am in first place in the league right now, but there are some tough fights ahead.
Tom.

Your standing is impressive considering your lack of "big names".
-
Birdman!

Last game vs. OKC: 15 points, 11 boards, 3 steals, 3 blocks
You gotta bring him back!

The lack of Pitt alums on your fantasy roster disturbs me greatly. How could you not at least pick up DeJuan Blair?
Then again, what the hell do I know?

'Cause DeJuan Blair ain't got no ACL in either of his knees! I wonder how long his NBA career will actually be. He's been fine so far, so I guess it comes down to what it'd be like if he ever gets injured.
Tom - I loved hearing you talk about Tommy Heinsohn. I don't know if anybody pointed this out already, but he's also an amateur painter:

Of course, I was being facetious. DeJuan is not and will likely never be a good fantasy player.
But for what the Spurs ask him to do, DeJuan is perfect. He can come off the bench for 15 to 20 minutes and collect his 5 to 10 rebounds. I think his upside is that of a Charles Oakley/Michael Cage type player. He doesn't have the offensive skillset to be a really dominant player. Although, I think his game could become more well-rounded with time.
-
he's doing fine as a starter. Sure, the guy has no ACL, but he still dives for balls and plays harder than many healthy players. At what his current salary, it'd be stupid to pass him up. I would never give him any sort of long-term deal.
full disclosure, I did go to Pitt.
-
Yeah, I didn't mean to come off as negative about Blair. I like him too and those were my thoughts when he got drafted. He went 37th overall yet he's already playing an important role on a very good team. The same can't be said for a lot of guys drafted ahead of him.
Yesterday was pretty nuts for the NBA. Nate Robinson returns with 41 points, Kobe has a buzzer beater, and the whole Gilbert Arenas gun thing.
-
and the whole Gilbert Arenas gun thing.
With Phil Spector locked up I'm glad to see someone finally repping for firearms-related practical jokes.
-
Too bad this won't count in Tom's fantasy league.
