Title: Best Show Coincidences
Post by: harris on December 18, 2009, 01:30:47 PM
So this happens ALL THE TIME. For instance I am at work right now and literally 5 minutes ago when I was listening to Philly Boy Roy telling Tom about his Live Aid adventure and Bob Dilban's Self Porchlight my coworker was on the phone with someone and she said "Ok, and the name was Zeigler?" (I work in Philadelphia)

And yesterday Tom and PFT were talking about Joe Flaherty and Eugene Levy and I went to IMDB to look up Flaherty's filmography only to be greeted by a homepage telling me "Eugene Levy was born today."

What are some of your Best Show coincidences?

Newbridge and New Port Richey.

I didn't know anything about Newbridge when I first called.

New coincidence:  Both names get red squiggles underneath them when I type them.

Oh and....

David Letterman was talking about Bayonne last night. I missed the context, though. He said he moved there but I think he was being funny.

Oh and. . . .

I was listening to the archive from two weeks ago whilst shopping online for new shaving things (I use foam in a can with the Gillette Fusion and unfortunately I have a nose and lips, which are incompatible with that razor). I happened upon a useful review site just as Tom said the word "shaving" and was reading the review of the Gillette Fusion when Tom revealed his hatred toward it... COINCIDENCE!!

(I've only used my new stuff for a few days but I must say that sneaker I used to shave with was rubbish.)

While listening to the podcast of the Gathering of the FOTs show, I pulled up behind a car (I was driving) that had 2 kiss bobble heads, and a license plate that said "Kissfan"

It was strange because Tom was talking to Lisa Jane Persky about Kiss and if they were cool or not.

Weren't you ridiculed by the man himself for this story?

Covered in another thread, but my wife tells me she got us tickets to see "A Prairie Home Companion" live and that night I hear a podcast of Tom railing on Garrison Keillor.

Yes, ridiculed by the best.

I happened to be listening to Tom trashing the Fusion on my way to the supermarket, and was surprised that they had a big display of them in the store almost as soon as I walked in...reduced to half price!

Listening to the podcast, driving christmas eve, we lost our minds as we tailed a 90's model Blazer with juggalo clown faces and the text 'JUGGALO'

A few months ago, I was driving down to NYC to go to a show.  I was listening to Zachary Brimstead Esq.'s "Barbershop Punk" call in which he sings My War by Black Flag.  Later on when I got to the show, the band brought up a special guest to sing a cover.  The guest:  Ted Leo.  The cover: My War by Black Flag.

When Fall rolled around the wife got some apple cider. Brand was Ziegler's. Made in Pennsylvania. Did some research and when it was originally made available in grocery store, they started in Philly and NJ.

Sometimes The Best Show and that other show that we dare not speak its name around heres subject matter are similar sometimes. For example Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park and so on.

A couple hours before the show yesterday I was listening to the Nardwuar podcast in which he features interviews with Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins and he played "Do It" so I heard that song not once, not twice, but thrice yesterday.

Listened to the Marshack saga the other day, and just caught this on the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

there's this old movie called Terror in the Aisles (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088249/), which is more or less a compilation of horror movies hosted by Donald "Pewma" Pleasance and Nancy Allen. It's one of the weirdest things ever, but it's a really enjoyable watch, if only for some of the random movies that I've never seen before.

One of the films shown always freaked me out, involving what I always assumed was a country/western musician and his general psychotic behavior as he attacks any number of women and police officers. Then, one day I spend a googling jag trying to identify this movie, which it turned out is Vice Squad (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084861/). I called an old friend of mine and was telling him about this, and five minutes later, I heard Tom talking about it on the show. This was a few months ago. I wanted to call in and mention this, but soon realized I didn't want to be associated with that creepy movie in any way.

I hadn't thought of 24-7 spyz 10+ years and then heard JW reference them and saw a flyer mentioning them all in the span of about 15 minutes.
