Title: Mike Nesmith Fan Club
Post by: chinapig on January 18, 2010, 02:09:34 AM
he was the smartest Monkee, and also the most talented.  haven't heard anything really negative about him yet.  his non-involvement in "Pool It" adds to his legacy.

When I was around 11 or so I thought he was super cute, albeit in a strange way.

Me too. He's always been my fave since I started watching The Monkees when I was a wee one.

It's the Southern accent, stocking cap and fantastic songs.

I think the music and show were very cool but I never really thought that any of the individual Monkees were. They were a strange phenomenon. I don't know if Nesmith was a good solo artist, but I'm not a country fan either so who am I to judge.

He wrote "Different Drum," which is a great song.

I really really like Magnetic South.  I'm actually a little shocked by how good it is.  I shouldn't have doubted you, Michael!

We also have Mike Nesmith to thank for Jersey Shore, albeit indirectly.

Quote from: Wikipedia entry on Michael Nesmith
During this time, Nesmith created a video clip for "Rio" which, in a roundabout way, helped spur Nesmith's creation of a television program called Pop Clips for the Nickelodeon cable network. In 1980, Nesmith's Pop Clips was sold to Time Warner/Amex consortium. Time Warner/Amex developed Pop Clips into the MTV network.

Thanks, Mike!
