Terre T is going to do a tribute to Jay Reatard on her show this Saturday. One of the things she needs would be the three live performances Jay did on her show over the years taken from the WFMU archives and turned into sound files that can be burned to a CD at the highest possible quality.
In a perfect world she would have the tracks sequenced and the post-set interviews isolated as a separate audio track.
If you can do this let me know. I will put the two of you in touch!
Thanks so much for anyone who can help!
Tom.

Jay Reatard has appeared on Terre T's show 3x since 2002.
Twice when he was in the band LOST SOUNDS
and once when he was in ANGRY ANGLES :

What I* could use is someone isolating the best songs from these performances and sending them to me as files that can be burned to CD that can be played on regular ye olde fashioned CD equipment (not the kind that is playable digital like on the computer only; NOT mp3)
Also even much more important --if someone could isolate the "interview" portion at the end of these bands sessions into short ,usable quotes or bits from Jay.
The interview part is much more important. I have original masterCD recordings of these sessions but they run as one long continuous track. It will be far easier if they can be broken into individual songs or interview segments.
Can ya help a sistah out?
*Uuhhh and when i say "I" , i mean Terre T or course...
...not me, Jillian Barberie---typo!

Tom and Jillian for Terre -
I might be able to help depending on how soon you need the sound files.
If the files are too big (AIFF, WAV?), I can upload them to a site and email the link so then you could download the files and burn them onto a CD.
I would just be using a free trial version of Wire Tap http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/ (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/) that anybody else could get. Maybe someone else has a better idea? More time? If not, I can try. I'd be glad to help a sistah out.

Terre (c/o Ms. Barberie)--
I'm assuming the CD tracks are AIFFs. If so, and you know what songs/bits you'd like to use, I could extract them as AIFFs or some other audio format of your choice. I do audio "chopping" like this often at my job, so I think I could do a fast turnaround, depending on how many songs/soundbites you need.
-
hi llcultjam and scratchbomb,
Cool! I don't know what AIFF are or anything technical. If u or anyone has done stuff like this for Tom (eg for when he needs audio clippets for his Best SHow awards etc) then uh ..er..i guess thats what u do?
I provided linx above . There u will find the REAL AUDIO files.
On Aug 23 show, it is not an Acuplaylist, so u click on the REal Audio archive file ---i'm not sure what u mean by time code, but if u mean the lil numbers that come up as u are listening to the RealAudio around 2:38:00 /3:05 there's the song Total Destruction and the interview portion.
And there's another quote at 2:41 that would be funny.
On the Sept18 2004 show, there's no interview as they had to immediately leave. The session and interview is broken down by time stamps via the Acuplaylist.
On the July29, 2006 show -early version of the song "nightmares" Interview 3:46 and interview 3:57
Uh i hope that made sense!
Thanks much!

I have turned the show RM files into MP3's. I can cut it up from those files.
Considering you DO NOT want MP3s, what would you need to burn a disc that you could use? A disc image? Let me know and I could get this to you late tonight or tomorrow. PM me. (Tom has my e-mail as well)
-
BPH--Sounds like you're gonna run with this, but I could probably convert the RMs to AIFFs or something else a bit more high quality if need be. Sounds like the primary concern is sound quality/ability to burn on CD.
-
Ms. Barberie--
I don't know if this has been resolved yet, but I chopped up the live stuff into CD ready, high quality files. Did the requested songs/interviews for the 02 and 06 shows, and divided the entire 04 set into individual tracks (you didn't have specific songs listed, so I did them all). If you still need this, let me know and I'll send it to you ASAP.

I never heard anything back. Anyway, sounds like you have the high-quality files they need.
I did go ahead and make MP3's of all the individual tracks but no disc images. They are REALLY good sets. They are here for those interested...

I think Scratchbomb is got it on this one. Thanks to BPH for the help and everybody should check out those awesome DLs he set up!
Tom.

Those are great sets! Thanks for the downloads, BPH. The tribute should be awesome.
-
You are very welcome. I am glad others are getting to enjoy them.
It's amazing that one of those sets is from over 7 years ago. SO good.
When I heard about his death I kept thinking, "Please let this be a hoax." I thought that for days. I am still angry that this happened.
I am sure the CBC is going to be great tomorrow.

Unfortunately, while I had heard of Jay Reatard it wasn't until his death that I actually listened to his music. Since then, I've been hurriedly devouring everything I can get my hands on. It's tragic to lose a musician of his caliber at such a young age.
-
Thank you to everybody who responded so quickly and thank you very much to Big Plastic Head for splitting and converting those trax!
It's greatly appreciated! Jay was enormously prolific. There's alot of material to cover and i'll only be able to scratch the surface.
Even the fact that i have THREE* LIVE sessions from him from the last few years show how prolific he was. So many bands, side projects etc
Thanks very much!
*(He would have done FOUR! There was to be a WFMU live session with him touring as JayReatard 2 yrs ag, but he suddenly& mysteriously cancelled that radio session AND the gig he was to have played that night at Maxwells in NJ.)

I was watching some live lost sounds stuff the other day and was really awed by the stuff he was making when he was just 23.

ive had the session with the angry angles for a while and i love it but truly, i can't say enough how his death has affected Memphis and it's truly a loss to our local community, not to mention to the number of fans he has everywhere.
i went to the funeral to pay my respects and it was very hard to see Jay and to see photos of his life. it was even harder to see musicians who i admired and had never seen in that light, my friends, at such a tender moment.
it's very bittersweet hearing and reading all the tributes that have played out since his death- a life lost too soon.
i can't wait to hear Cherry Blossom Clinic this afternoon.

Listening to this show at work right now. It's really great.

i loved the show.
i've been listening to it on loop the last 2 days.
