Title: Facebook Doppleganger Week
Post by: GroverJefferson on January 30, 2010, 01:29:33 PM
First time actually posting on the forum here (and maybe a bold move to start a new thread), but I felt this was worth pointing out.

There appears to be a meme going on on facebook in which you're supposed to put up your "doppleganger" this week for your profile pic, defined as whatever musician/actor/athlete people say you look like.

While I find this far more acceptable than the "choose your favorite pokemon december" meme, and don't mind my doppleganger (the esteemed FOT John Hodgman), it occured to me this morning that this is essentially Tom's worst nightmare.

Thoughts?  (and is this a first-call worthy subject for Tuesday?)

I think it's pretty hilarious and I'm glad you posted a thread on this. Especially since this is definitely a "Who-do-you-look-like" game in reverse. I think it's amusing to see who people think they look like and have been giggling at how people have been upgrading, rather than downgrading.

That being said, I tried in vain to find a doppleganger but I really look like none of the people I've been told I look like. It's only cuz I have curly hair and so do they.

I'd won't be posting my doppelganger because I'd look like a big nerdly dork - I don't get this nearly as much now that the show is off the air but:

Well, also, Mama's a lil bit bulkier these days.

I look like Sean Lennon and Elvis Costello had a fat kid, tattooed him, and dressed him like a hipster with aspirations of being a logger. Is there a pic for that? Didn't think so.

When I would walk past the bars near my old apartment people would yell Bob Dylan at me, which after a while became kinda unflattering.

Ha!  I just looked around on your facebook for clarification, and you are right about the Lennon & Costello mix.  That's pretty cool though.

Someone put up a pic of Conway Twitty on mine and said that was as close as they could get.

No one has doppelganger'd me...so I stuck with Candace Cameron, who I was told I looked like roughly 10 years ago. Maybe someone will take pity on me on FB and dub me something.
But I've been having a blast finding doppelgangers for my brother. I think it may be irritating him now. He doesn't want to look like Geena Davis, but sometimes....he does!

This reminds me of one of the people I'm working with right now. He is the spitting image of Hillary Swank. From any movie, not just Boys Don't Cry. I want to tell him but this show has taught me better.

Try calling him "Mo Cuishle," see how he reacts.

A while back I did one of those online things where you upload your picture and it compares your features to celebrities. My top match was Anne Frank.

Wouldn't it be kinda creepy to put Anne Frank as your doppelganger on Facebook?

Of course, that's why I didn't participate. I still have a screenshot of the results page though, that would've worked.

I didn't use that program, but someone "posted on my facebook wall" that I look like David Krukmholtz. Is that a good thing!? This guy has posted this on two separate occasions within four years of each other, it's very odd.

I always thought David Krumhultz was adorable.
That was also back when he played that elf Bernard in The Santa Claus.
