You don't even have to look that far back, TE.  Geritol's "My wife--I think I'll keep her" in the seventies springs to mind.

My ex-brother-in-law (aka The Jerk among my brothers and I) used to quote that incessantly in my sister's presence. Looking back, I should have punched him in the nose.

I have an ex-brother-in-law whom my family all called The Jerk as well.  Probably fairly common, I suppose.

P.S.  I just noticed the typo in my post.  Though I've now corrected it, the quotation in yours will forever stand testimony to my shame.
