Before I ask my question, I'd just like to say that The Best Show contains some of the best comedy I've heard. The interplay between S&W reminds me of the old Bob and Ray radio show of the 50s-70s, or to a lesser extent Phil Hendrie.
Now for all I know this question may be out of bounds, but is there any way of getting clips or full shows that aren't in the WFMu archives? I'm particularly interested in the "Extreme Dad" bit from January 6, 2004.
Thanks.

HOW DARE YOU!!!
Just kidding, but as far as I know, the only way to get the stuff that's not in the archives is to order the CDs. I have all of them and they are worth every penny.... and it's not even that many pennies, really.

"Extreme Dad" is an Andy Earles call and is not available on the CDs. It is available (or it used to be) in the place you can see when you have a certain number of posts.

I believe that one's on the Best Show Uncovered CD Tom put together for last year's Mini-Marathon. Not sure if you can get your hands on those premiums after each Marathon ends, but I doubt it.

I don't think it's on Best Show Uncovered. I listened to it recently (when it came in the mail) and I don't remember it.

At this point, I suppose the only episode that is actually unavailable is the one Tom removed from the archive. Is it out of line to ask what happened there? Obviously something that shouldn't be put out to the public again, but after it didn't come out on the lost Best Show CDs, I'm really wondering what could have possibly happened. Can anyone give an explanation without actually revealing anything that would be out of line?

There's more than one unavailable episode. Some of the very early episodes (such as the show which featured The Gorch's call, 1/9/01) are not even listed in the archives.

Dang, I always wondered about that ...

They're mentioned... somewhere.
In fact, in that same somewhere, you can find a reference to a show later that year that featured outtakes from the first Gorch call.

"Extreme Dad", if we're talking about the same thing, is available as "Ditchweed" on the Earles & Jensen disc on Matador. You can listen here:

He did the same routine in a call to The Best Show.
