Zach to host on March 6th! I'm super excited! My super secret fantasy comedy boyfriend is going to be on TV just for meeeeeeee.
But yeah, this should be fun. I hope! Everything he does is funny to me... even though I'm not a huge SNL fan these days.

this will be the first time I've watched SNL in a long, long time
-
I'm excited, but I'm also afraid that it's going to be a huge disappointment.
-
I would be more excited if I hadn't seen last week's SNL with Jennifer Lopez, which was so bad I hated myself for being alive.
-AG
-
They're usually that bad, yes. I do realize this.
-
I'd rather see Will Oldham pull off host/music double duty but this should be interesting too.
-
I'm really curious and a little afraid to see how this goes.
I feel like his humor wouldn't work wonderfully within the concept of SNL. I mean, squeezing him into a Gilly sketch just seems weird.

Maybe he can just slap Gilly in the mouth and we'll be done with that.
Just have faith that whether the show is good or bad, Zach will be awesome.

this would be the best use of NBC late night programming in months.
(besides poker after dark, natch).
-
I think he is invited more as the superstar from The Handover and less for his indie comic status.
-
I wonder if it's a coincidence that Scott Aukerman (who co-writes/directs Between Two Ferns with Zach) happens to be in New York this week (which he almost never is). I know SNL doesn't work like that what with their writing staff and all, but it still got me thinking.

Who cares why?

I don't know, I think sometimes people will being in guest writers/collaborators. I know that Scott was the head writer for whatever MTV awards Samberg hosted, so there's definitely possibility for some great digital shorts.
-
I watched the recent Jon Hamm episode and it was pretty funny. The following week I watched the Ashton Kutcher episode which was horrid with the exception of one sketch. I think the host is a large factor in how funny it will be.

the promos are great.

I am so excited for this!

Isn't it nice to have a TeeVee Boyfriend? He'll never stand you up.
Unless there's a blackout.

A friend of mine who's a dresser/costume designer for a bunch on NBC shows was working with him the other day. I was glad to hear that he's a really nice guy.

I have a poster and a t-shirt as backup.

My friend's an intern at SNL and she said she got Zach's coffee order wrong so he told her to go back and get the right order but to make it extra hot, then when she gave it to him he threw it in her face.

I couldn't stop laughing at his wig in the "Let's Us Mess With Your Look" bit.

I loved the first Let Us Play With Your Look with Alec Baldwin, but that mousse was just hilarious.
-
I liked the bit where he showed up on all the other NBC shows.
-
The monologue seemed to get bigger laughs than any monologue in years.

I'm begged my Best Man to tape it for me and he forgot. Seriously considering building a time machine to go back and take his title away.

Pretty bad episode, though it wasn't Zach's fault.
I liked the bit where he showed up on all the other NBC shows.
That was my favorite.
-
I liked the ambidextrous disco flautist.
And I loved the opportunity to type that phrase just now.
-
I've only watched the monologue so far, but seeing him do his thing on SNL (and how well it went over) made me so happy.
-
i also liked the Zach Shows Up In Other NBC Shows bit. and, although i usually can't stand Kristen Wiig, i didn't mind her in the bidet sketch, or her as Kathie Lee. I really liked how they used Zach in the Today Show sketch; instead of just throwing him on there as a chef or film critic or something, it was nice to see a reference to the previous skit.
Also, SPOILER ALERT (a term i don't think i ever used when referring to SNL): if you're wondering about the "did he or didn't he" thing at the end, here's a behind the scenes video between the 2nd vampire weekend performance and the last skit:

Here's the last sketch of the night, which wasn't online anywhere yesterday. Definitely a "writer's sketch", and nice to hear Zach say "Bojangles" in a Seth accent.

I don't think I'll ever be able to tell those two "new" girls apart in sketches.

Thanks for posting, Samir! This was amazing, flubups and all!
"I'll be in the car-truck...."

"I'll be in the car-truck...."
i think that's my favorite line, although the repeated uttering of "acid washed jeans" is a very close second.

Sorry, I meant to put the quotation marks around "girls" and "sketches."

So the drummer did flash a Phish t-shirt! I knew it!

That sort of thing requires an upgrade.
Seeing Zach on SNL made me wish for the days where I could go see him do live standup... Kinda was wishing for the Annie costume...

I think you meant " 'Sorry,' " Chris.

Betty White...

i was really hoping they wouldn't do 'what up with that' for just one show.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but that sketch makes me laugh. I think it's mostly Jason Sudeikis' dancing.
-
i dunno it just feels like i'm being told the same joke by a different person every time i see it
-
I liked that Zach kept on that outfit when he introduced Vampire Weekend.

Me too. I watch it ONLY for his dancing. I like it when he goes slo-mo...
