Title: Paul F. Tompkins in Halifax!
Post by: MikefromHalifax on March 08, 2010, 11:23:05 PM: We were the first to arrive at 300, getting there before far, far bigger cities. And as proof of his good will, Paul F. Tompkins is flying up (I'm assuming he's flying. Maybe he's getting a ride with some guys. Like from Craigslist or something) and performing two shows in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 27.

We don't get a ton of big-name comics here. Louis CK came through in September and played two big sold-out shows, and the Halifax Comedy Festival has pulled in some decent talent, but we're really not on the radar of most touring comedians, so I really hope this signals a trend. We've got a great homegrown troupe in Picnicface, and the audience is definitely here. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Let me see if I get all the references ... cake vs pie, elegant balloons, President Baby, the bee fetish (where did hear that? was that from a podcast?), the squished penny trinket. I don't get ABIERTO (unless it's from his cherry picking bit), the teddy bear, and the bunny-like thing in the lower left.

The bee fetish and the Filthy Pokemon (bunny-like thing) are from his bit on the Comedy Death-Ray album, which is awesome all the way through. The "Abierto" sign and the bear are from Impersonal (Sesame Street and Genetic Engineering). I wanted to fit more in, but it was getting cluttered. Ghost Stromboli and Goth in a Hurry were unfortunate cuts.

I'm a fan.

Really great read, and am slightly geeking out that SCF did this interview.

Also, the poster is top shelf!
