I threw up when she squirmed
as he kissed her hand.
Thanks so much.
Didn't see the rest
had to clean up the mess.

You guys saw Stewart's segment on Megyn, right?
-
Host: Everyone is telling me you are a genius.
Gene: Blah blah, taxes, blah, net income... If you add up the 55% at the end, after I paid my 48%, THAT'S MORE THAN 100%!!!
:(

This exchange floored me:
Host: Do you only help the high net-worth people or also regular folks?
Sam Watson: You know, I was in that market a long time, but when you're in the business I'm in, you kind of have to choose your own mix, so uh, right now it's..."
Host: So you went after the Richies.
Sam: [shrugs]
Host: So tell us, Sam, how much is Gene worth?

I come bury Gene Simmons, not to praise him. In a Kiss(tm) coffin. More specifically, a Kiss coffin I will hire somebody to paint the cover of Duran Duran's 'Seven and The Ragged Tiger' over.

I threw up ...
Yeah, he's pretty nauseating. He repeated some of the same life philosophies that made me ill when he made his infamous appearance on "Fresh Air". Lots of rock and pop musicians go through agonizing self-reflection while negotiating the balance between art and commerce.
No agony for Gene. In battle between Art and Commerce, Art can go fuck off. I think Gene decided that a long time ago.

Since when was Kiss art?

Love him, hate him or love to mock him Gene Simmons is a) sui generis and b) consistent.
He got into rock and roll to get laid, and then he figured out he could get really, really rich. My guess is that he doesn't particularly enjoy music at all.
I find it hilarious. At the same time, he's just a 60-something guy dealing with abandonment issues in a really unique way. Viva America.

I'll give him that much. Gene Simmons never sold out, because he never pretended to "buy in" to begin with.

You know you're a dickhead when Terry Gross, of all people, calls you out on it.
