Sonic Youth will perform the entire Daydream Nation album here in Chicago as a part of the pitchfork media festival.
ORDER TICKETS THIS SECOND IF THIS INTERESTS YOU.
Maybe an informal FOT gathering?

I would so go if I weren't in Connecticut. I saw them in February and were amazing. They played two Daydream Nation songs, "Candle" and "Teenage Riot." This is going to be the best thing ever.

I met their last several efforts with a shrug of who cares, but this will be a stellar show. That was a seriosuly solid record.

Even touring behind mediocre records, SY has always smoked live. I'll figure out some way to be there.

Daydream Nation was a great "cool down" (double) album for me back in my LSD-taking days (I quit that crap in my freshman year... it got too scary). There was a familiarity and warmth to it that always managed to put my freaked out mind at ease. The last Sonic Youth record was awesome, but I've been lukewarm on a lot of their more recent output. Live, I will concur, they still kill. The fact that they can perfectly recreate a song like "Expressway To Your Skull" live is a testament to their power.

"Providence" will no doubt be a perfect time for a bathroom/beer break.

Not if they get Mike Watt to speak into a prop phone

They played Silver Rocket when I saw them recently, although I wish they had played Teenage Riot as well, because I had just come back from-a winter vacation.

I'd guess that Mike Watt will be there.

"Whoa, Sonic Youth for two bucks!"

"Thurston... did you find your shit?"

OK, I got my ticket. Who else is going to be there? If any of you FOTs are going to be there, we should definitely get together.
