Title: Kazuo Ohno, co-inventor of Butoh, dies at 103
Post by: mackro on June 02, 2010, 01:33:18 AM
I hope Ohno didn't suffer for long before he died today, but his longevity inspires me.  I doubt I'll live that long but here's just an idea of how cool this man was:

Some of you may own this album, released a year ago. Either way, the front cover is a photography of Kazuo Ohno in 1977.  That means way back then, when the Sex Pistols and The Damned were just these new kids making noise, Ohno was rocking these photos at the mere age of 70 FRICKIN' YEARS OLD.

There has been the issue of age talked about on The Best Show recently.  This is the type of old I strive for. I don't expect it, obviously. But if anyone tells me how much it sucks to be old, I'll be sure to tell 'em about Kazuo Ohno.

Totally. I'd make a terrible nurse. On people's deathbeds, I'd be all "Kazuo Ohno almost doubled your age, yo."

Kaz is almost exactly double my age. Is there something you're not telling me, doctor?

I'm a big ol' yoga nerd & my personal old lady-inspiration is Vanda Scaravelli, who made it to 91:
