Title: Political Ads
Post by: slackest on June 02, 2010, 04:50:28 PM
So, although the Alabama ads are pretty fantastic, there are some other great ones kicking around this year.

Here's two from the race for Barbara Boxer's CA senate seat, both from Carly Fiorina, whose past accomplishments include running Hewlett Packard into the ground:

And here's Rand Paul's ad about "Kentucky Values", which is great in the context of his support for repealing the civil rights act of 1964. Guess Rand Paul thinks everyone in Kentucky is racist! Sorry!

But, who cares. I don't give a rip.

Does anybody remember some of the ones from a couple of years ago? I kid you not  it literally said something about another candidate supporting some kind of sex education bill that studied the sex lives of Vietnamese prostitutes. I wish i could find the add on Youtube.

New Dale Peterson ad!

I guess he lost the primary, and has carefully weighed which of the two remaining candidates gives a rip, and gave his endorsement to that guy. And will shoot anyone who messes with signs.

A couple of years ago a senator from my state had one attack ad and it was all she needed: She accused her rival of being involved with atheistic fundraisers.

Who, Elizabeth Dole?  She lost that election, so I think maybe she needed more.

I forget where, but yesterday I saw that the Dale Peterson and Rick Barber ads were both made by the same guy, along with a third equally nutty campaign for some other teabagger.  Well, he's three for three: They all lost their primaries.  Not that I think this signifies any special enlightenment on the voters' part, but still: [SFX: Nelson Muntz laugh]

I was almost with her until she started equating free reign for utility companies with being independent of special interests.

Seriously, who buys this crap?  I want to say no one, but then again, I have read Yahoo! comment boards.  And, with all apologies to J from H, I've also been to Alabama.

These two know how to make an ad, though.  Knowing nothing about the race, I would still proffer that she has a good chance.

Okay, this is weird:

"Rombo" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtOcrS6axnE#ws)

It's a Santorum ad that: 1) portrays Mitt Romney in action-hero mode; 2) portrays Rick Santorum as a two-dimensional cardboard cutout; and 3) seems designed to provide fodder for a million jokes about, uh, that thing you learn about "Santorum" if you Google it.
