Title: The census movie to end all census movies
Post by: Joe Rogaine on June 14, 2010, 09:11:53 PM
I was flipping through the tv guide and saw that this is going to be on cable this week. All it needs is to replace "Famliy" in the plot with "Quizno's owner".

Apparently the Residents do the movies soundtrack

The Census Taker (1984)

Plot Synopsis

This black comedy centers upon the exploits of a nosy census taker and the family he harasses. The couple he visits willingly let him in the house. Soon they find themselves interrogated with increasingly intrusive questions. They finally reach their limit, get angry, and shoot the census taker in the head. The rest of the story chronicles their attempts to hide the body from an eccentric detective.

It's Garrett Morris, one of the original SNLers.

I knew he looked familiar from somewhere.

Fun fact:  I used to work with/was friends with a woman who was married to a venture capitalist who was one of the major funders of Putney Swope.  He was an ass, but she was great.  I remember they had a picture of hubby and George Bush, Sr., hanging in their downstairs bathroom.

This morning's trip down memory lane was brought to you by Fatigue™.

Weird that one of the major funders of Putney Swope would be pals with George Bush.

I guess he thought it was a good investment for some reason.  And, remember, Bush Pa was viewed as a more reasonable alternative to Ronald Reagan by moderate Republicans, and I dare say the number of venture capitalists who are not Republican is fairly modest.

I have been thinking about this census movie business all day. We are having an "end-of-the-census-phase" party (although some of us have actually been hired for phase 2) this weekend and I've been thinking about how it would be if we made a movie about our adventures. Completely silly, but fun to think about.
I have been really lucky to be able to work with a great team of people. It would be a wonderful cast. I'm starting to feel sentimental about it all, g2g

According to Wikipedia, Jennifer Finch from L7 is in this flick, playing "Punk Girl." I think she was typecast after that.

Sadly, Garrett Morris can also be seen in the most recent Orbit gum commercial.  I'm not saying I'd turn the job down, but I'm hoping for better endeavors for him.
