1) I would love to figure out a way to do this, and

2) this year's logo is nuts.

Guitar Wolf are amazing live!! I'm going to be in NYC the weekend before that and I'm not sure if I can do back to back trips!  This is in Memphis, right?

This sounds so awesome!! Especially the Greg Cartwright stuff!

How have I not heard of Wild Thing or The Outdoorsman??? Mr. Juvenile Hall is doing a poor job of keeping me up to date on goings on in the Bay Area.

Also, Personal And The Pizzas are playing gonerfest as well.

I saw the Ettes a few weeks ago at WMNF's Tropical Heatwave and they were great.

Rough, fast, spunky and cute!  Greg Cartwright did the production (and co-wrote a song) for their latest record.

AC: figure it out, it's going to be awesome.  the logo (which is love) says it all.

badgrammer: i understand the dilemma of the back-to-back trip with your finances.  get with AC on figuring it out.  it's in memphis.

huggs: yes, personal and the pizzas WILL be there, along with a bunch of other bands they haven't updated on the site yet.  how great does this lineup sound?!  you going to be there...i mean, here?

fredericks: it would make my year if you showed up in memphis, rowing up the mississippi.

DESTRUCTION UNIT (Arizona)

Huh?  Jay Reatard was in this band, and as we know, he passed.  Did they replace him, or did that happen ages ago and I somehow missed it?

edit: Looking at their MySpace page, it looks like Ryan Wong and Shawn Foree are now the primary members.  A sad reminder, though, seeing the name on this list.

seeing the whole list without Jay's name on there was a little heartbreaking, considering the fact that even if he's not playing, you always see him walking around.  sigh, oh well.

Depends. Something could happen that would make coming possible. But it's a secret.

Oooo! I thought this might conflict with a vacation plan but it's going to come afterwards ... this might jive after all!

Problem is I'm coming back from a 2 wk trip to Europe France and I"m sure my wallet will be sorta tapped, so I'm wondering from those who've gone before from out of town ... like what kind of $ did you lay out for this thing?

Oh my GAWD

I have to make it this year. I know I've threatened to go the past couple of years (and I seriously meant to) but ... I haven't had a mother effing vacation in 2 years.

I've seen Guitar Wolf twice, years ago, & yeah - that's some hot shit right there. I wonder who the new Bass Wolf is?

Hey, badgrammar!!! Let's carpool from Omaha (unless we meet at MAHA & for some reason can't stand one another)!!!!

you're biggest money issue, AC, is going to be getting here.  hotel isn't too bad, food+beer is cheap, and the attractions aren't going to break the bank (unless you hit up Graceland).

because of FedEx and the garbage that comes with taxes or airline politics or whatever, getting decent airlines to fly into Memphis is near impossible, which also contributes to the expense that comes with using the airlines that actually do fly into Memphis.

oh, and although i can't put anybody up (we can all cram into this studio apt if you'd like), i can be a taxi and/or tour guide, if necessary.

P.S. ... Hit up Graceland.

It's a kind of magic.

Yeah Baron,  I'm trying to make arrangements with Mark Twain, John Hartford and Sterling Morrison however, no one has gotten back to me, yet.

I saw Guitar Wolf once with Billy Bass Wolf and it was mind-blowing. I never thought I "might die" at a show before until seeing Guitar Wolf. Seiji almost threw an amp on me. Saw them twice after with the new "Billy" --a guy named Yuji who isn't as cool, but he's an alright bass player.

Courtney! I am totally down for a road trip if we can work it out! But yes, I guess it would depend on if/when we a) meet b) do not hate each other. Haha!

I am PSYCHED for Superchunk at 'Maha! So psyched that I really don't care about the other bands that are playing (but it will nice to see them as an added bonus)!

Graceland is awesome. I came back from visiting Memphis/Graceland and wanted to eat fried peanut butter + banana sandwiches everyday and I DID for several weeks. I'm sure you would agree IABVT, your town has AMAZING FOOD -especially if you like FRIED things (and I do)!

i've lived here as a vegetarian (currently) and a non-vegetarian.  i still don't know a thing about pork because i hate it anyway, but the food here is incredible.  in fact, where i live in midtown, you'd be hard-pressed to find any fast food (with the exception the union ave strip).

i love memphis.

Teets, when I was in Memphis I happened to get a cheeseburger at the Lamplighter. It was one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life.  When Jack Oblivian was here last year he started talking about Lamplighter cheeseburgers and I started howling like a fool.  I blew my cool.

Huggs!  You know about the Lamplighter cheeseburger?! I love you! I love that bar; it's one of my favorites.

Listen up, people. The Lamplighter cheeseburger is legendary around these parts (while also remaining largely unknown by the greater population). If you are here, make it a point to eat one with a cheap, cold beer.

And a pointer for a trouble free visit: no cussing.

I there any camping nearby, Baron?

A K.O.A.?  Or someone's back yard?  I'm very neat and will leave the site the same condition as when I got there.

Except for where the fire-pit was located, that is.

I assure you, the fire will be completely out when I leave!

the guy next door will probably let you set up shop in his back yard if you're willing to do some carpentry work, fredericks.

you know, the kind you do early in the morning, on a weekend, because that's the only time i have to sleep in.

As broke as I am, I'm going to do everything I can to attend.
Is it feasible to get a bus from NYC? Cheap places to stay? Camping? Will it be too hot? Can I sleep in the bus station?
I'll be entering my 40th year (as i turn 39).

$166 round trip by bus. Takes between 30 and 33 hours with 3 or 4 transfers. Gulp!
Maybe I'll hitch.

at the moment, my studio apartment suits my needs as a single; however, i wish terribly i could put every one of you up!

...which i could (if you enjoy cramped quarters and an air mattress for a few days).

Baron,

Is this a festival held in one place or is it a series of clubs/halls/garages?

How far to the nearest Camp-a-While?
