Last week I met John Brandon, a young, up and coming writer with a book coming out on McSweeney's next month. He's a native of New Port Richey. His book is set in a neighboring county in Gulf Coast Florida and includes mentions of sinkholes:

Ah, Citrus County. The county where I turn off to hit up US 19 to go to Tallahassee. Have you read the book?

He got interviewed by Jesse Thorpe:

A quote from the interview: "Everywhere is strip malls nowadays, but I would go out on a limb and say that New Port Richey, Florida, is the strip-malliest of all".
