We all know the "you look like" issue is belabored at this point, but does the same apply to "you sound like . . ."?
I'm listening to a language learning podcast, and I'm hearing the vocal equivalent of one female Best Show caller. I don't want to point it out if it is potentially rude.

Jon Wurster sounds a good deal like Marky Ramone on some calls.
My favs actually.
Or was that really Marky?
-
Kenny G. and Irwin, it's uncanny.
-
Most of these LA comedy-nerd podcast guys sound the same to me!
Why doesn't anyone ever try to sound like Casey Kasem??
-
Just listened to the "WTF" episode where Maron talked to the Sklar brothers and needled them endlessly about identical-twin stuff. The fact that there's no discernible difference between the Sklar's speaking voices didn't help. Reminded me of that Wurster call with Sean and Shane, the conjoined brothers. Or that other Wurster call with the father, son, and their talking dog who all sounded exactly the same.

I've always thought that maybe Julie From Cincinnati is a Jen Kirkman character.

llcultjam, there's some risk but probably less potential for offense.

Yeah, everyone dislikes the sound of their own voice anyway, so it's not like anyone is operating under the pretense of having a great voice and will be offended.
-
1. I don't mind the sound of my own voice and can even recognize that it's a good radio voice.
2. I think people mostly don't like being told they resemble anyone else in any way because we all want to think we're snowflakes.

I thought Nardwuar was a Jon Wurster character when her first called in. Nardwuar also makes some Martin Short-esque expressions.

Thank you . . .I'm taking that as license to move forward.
Someone please listen to this podcast http://radiolingua.com/shows/spanish/coffee-break-spanish/ (http://radiolingua.com/shows/spanish/coffee-break-spanish/), ideally lesson 06 and the young Scottish woman named Kara sounds so much like Emma from Toronto when she speaks Spanish. It might be a weird stretch considering Kara has an intense Scottish accent in English, but I hear Emma every time.

Nardwuar vs. Martin Short would be a beautiful thing, I hope that happens someday (if it hasn't already). Or maybe even Nardwuar vs. Jiminy Glick

Kara or Emma?

And I've always thought that Spike was maybe MC Steinberg! Uncanny...

Petey circa '04 sounds a lot like MC Steinberg sometimes. Alot of "WWaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhs" and loud reactions that often make me laugh so hard I can't turn down my speakers in time.

As an offshoot to this topic, I've always found it hilarious when people make bands comparisons that are completely ridiculous. For example, someone once told me "Wow that was a great set! Do you know that band Nine Inch Nails? It was kind of like that, but with a girl singing."

Kara speaking Spanish sounds like Emma.
-
Ah!
Who's Mike Francesca?
Does he sound like me?
Or vice versa?

I maintain that John Hodgman could probably do a killer Michael Emerson/Benjamin Linus impression.
I'd love to hear him actually read some lines.
