I couldn't find this anywhere else, so forgive me if it's common knowledge already, but Tom seems to be on the newest episode of the great but sporadically released podcast Walking with Michelle. Thought you'd like to know.
-
I had no knowledge of this.
Thanks Pastor.
-
You're welcome. My delight in seeing a new episode in my download queue was significantly amplified when I saw the guest's name.
-
I was just about to post this.
Super excited to go to work now!
-
Dang, I think I heard about this podcast vaguely once before ...interesting!
-
Tom's episode is one of the few not marked explicit.
I like that.
-
www.walkingwithmichelle.com is where to find it, but I'm sure FOTs are savvy enough to have already figured it out. It was a nice, calming thing for me to listen to after this past week's bunch of craziness in Toronto.
-
Does anyone know if the PFT episode listed (the very first one) is the one from ages ago - like about 2005 or so? Is it THAT sporadically released?

Tom said something about "one episode per year".
It probably is the same one.

Michelle: "standing on the corner/<murmur> Winslow, Arizona..."
Tom: "Yes. 'Those Shoes'."
-
This is great.
Tom explaining, in great detail, the intricacies of MTV's Bully Beatdown is lovely.
-
There was a moment when they were discussing where to eat lunch when I got so excited at the prospect of being able to listen in to Tom eat at Panera Bread. But alas, it didn't happen.
-
Michelle: "standing on the corner/<murmur> Winslow, Arizona..."
Tom: "Yes. 'Those Shoes'."
that made me BURST out laughing, seriously. I enjoyed this podcast, and also downloaded most of the others. AND watched vids of michelle on youtube, etc. I like her a lot.

Ha, this is another ongoing Tom joke which is funny to me, and which he has also pulled ON me. I was trying to summon up the name Barton Fink, & it just was not there. When I said "oh, what's that movie's name?" Tom said "Avatar".
-
I live under a rock. Thanks PJ, for heads up on this! Also, I heart TS...love getting a chance to listen to him outside of TBS. He's one of the good guys.
-
I'm listening as we speak. It's wonderful.
-
"Can we go to Twist: Yogurt Without Limits?"
"I don't know if you can handle that."

they make it weirdly hard to get the actual file, you have to go the html and search for "mp3"

this lady is annoying
(no offense)

Uh, how is there any way that wouldn't give offense, TE?

TE, you should have said, "With all due respect..."
And I disagree with you. And walking is under-rated.
-
Yeah, I think Michelle is funny and she seems nice. She didn't annoy me one bit. I was charmed.
TE: did you by any chance listen to the whole thing? Specifically the part where they discuss how people act as though entertainers aren't real people, and don't have feelings? If not, you should.
-
Oh, come on. We all love a radio show that involves a fair bit of entertainer bashing. (True, it's done in a funnier way, but even so.)
Still, I do think you should have prefaced your observation with "Not for nothing," TE.
-
That said, (1) Michelle's voice has an edge that unfortunately just happens to hurt my ears (otherwise, she seems fine); (2) one of my pet peeves is people who say "This sucks" when they really mean "I don't like this."
-
it's been a bit since I listened to this, but I remember her voice having a midwest quality to it, like Kathleen Madigan's voice ... I love KM.
I heard once that the Northern English accent, like from Sheffield or Yorkshire, will sometimes carry a connotation of common sense, like for a TV character or something. I have no idea if this is accurate, but I can kinda see it. I think the same might be true for our Midwest accents.
On the other hand, both Northern English types and Midwest types are also seen as sort of backwards too, so I guess that's the good and the bad you get with the cultural stereotyping.
-
I'm talking about timbre not accent, and the pain I'm referring to is entirely physical. As someone whose voice has been known to hurt the ear at certain intensities (not volumes, so much), I do not intend the observation as a personal slight; rather, it testifies to the annoying sensitivity of these damn ears of mine. (Hell, I can't even listen to loud music very comfortably anymore. Apparently, as one ages, one not only loses some hearing but becomes more sensitive to certain sounds. It's like being nearsighted and farsighted at the same time--another perk of decrepitude. Huzzah!)
-
I like your voice Sarah - part of what I like is the unusual quality of it, because I think I also have a different thing going. Like I don't think my voice is conventionally feminine.
-
I loved this so much! Kind of thought it was funny when Michelle turned down Tom's suggestion of Panera Bread 2x. But yeah, seriously, my face hurt so much from smiling after this one! Thanks PJ!
-
Great recommendation. I breezed through her archives. Here's hoping she releases a few more this year... And here's hoping James Adomian continues to advance on Last Comic Standing.
-
I grabbed the other episodes after being introduced via the Tom episode. I've listened to the first three, and though the content itself is enjoyable, the sound quality varies wildly. I had to turn the Jimmy Pardo episode off before the end because it was so awful-sounding, and I'm generally a pretty ape-eared type.
-
Michelle has a great voice and it was a ton of fun doing this show! I salute her and I am officially censuring anyone who hates her voice.
Tom.

Hey, nobody mentioned the big news that was mentioned in the podcast. Is it a secret or something?
-
Great chemistry between interviewee and -er, just an incredibly pleasant listen.
-

That Tom's drinking coke again?
-
I'm not drinking soda again. That was recorded before I quit.
Timeline ESTABLISHED!
Tom.

You don't DRINK coke, you railadummy!
-
Also, I think Tom & Michelle talk about it being cold ...somehow I got the idea it was taped like in Feb or March.

Oh no. I'm doing it wrong...

They sounded cold.
-
I just listened to the episode with James Adomian, and in my opinion: flat-out funniest episode of the bunch. Highly recommended!
-
The Paul F. Tompkins episode is one of the A Special Thing podcasts they did back in the day. They should still be on itunes, along with the Benson Interruption he hosted, and a Scharpling and Wurster interview.

Yeah, that was my favorite, too.
