Title: Was Jeff McDonald the inspiration for The Music Scholar?

Hey Tom,
I'm reading Spray Paint The Walls: The Story of Black Flag, and it mentions that Jeff McDonald saw the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl at age three. Was this perchance the launching pad for the Music Scholar bit or mere coincidence?
