It would be oh so unfair if any of these bands were playing at the same time as any of the others. It would be agony having to choose which ones to see and which to skip. Amazing line-up really.

Las Vegas?

I hope this will spark a B&S American tour.

They already have dates lined up for the fall. Tickets for the Chicago show were going to be around $50 so I passed.

Nothing will stop me from attending this event. I am going for Guided By Voices alone. The rest is just gravy compared to GBV. Considerable gravy, yes, but gravy nonetheless.

What constitutes the "classic" GBV lineup? Pollard/Sprout/Mitchell/Demos/Fennell? Jim Greer instead of Demos? Will Jimmy Pollard be in there somewhere? That band, playing material from that era...I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Seriously thinking about making the trip for this. Seeing GBV alone is worth it.

I'm going for the $5,000,000 Progressive Jackpot Slots at Binions.

Shoot no Philly show. Maybe they will expand over November. I'd love to see them at the Merriam or Academy of Music.

is there any way a ticket to this event will go for less than 500 dollars?

You nailed it.

Quote from: http://www.spinner.com/2010/06/30/robert-pollard-guided-by-voices-reunion-arrows-balloons
"We got the band back together. Not the original line-up -- the classic line-up," Pollard tells Spinner. "It's better than the original line-up: Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell [guitars], Kevin Fennel [drums] and Greg Demos [bass]."

Yeah --so many awesome shows in the late sept/early oct period, including Gonerfest. I really, really want to know how much tickets are for this! I'm guess the airfare/lodging would be fairly cheap since it's Vegas, but yeah the ticket price might be the kicker for me.

My wife told me I "should" go. She will be 8 months pregnant at the time.

I think it's a trap.

We had our first baby in January. In 2009, I could have easily gone to this. In 2010, all I can do is sniffle and gaze out the window wistfully. So I suggest you take her up on the offer and suffer the consequences of her trap.

^^^This is exactly what happened to me; to the month even. I will see you there. . . unless it's a trap. And congratulations.

"MORE BANDS. OK, we’re working on it. But in addition to the 19 artists confirmed on the above poster, we can confirm the original lineup of COME — Thalia Zedek, Chris Brokaw, Sean O’Brien and Arthur Johnson — will be participating. Actually, we already know who some of the other bands are, we’re just trying to drag this out.  MORE MATABLOG CONTENT between now and October!"

200 bucks is a steal! I'm going to try my darnedest to get tickets.

Any predictions on how fast this thing's gonna sell out?

If at least two of my friends email me back by tomorrow saying they are going, I am falling for the trap and am going to try to get tickets.

Pollard is now saying the reunited GBV will tour, so if anyone besides myself was thinking of going just for them... Well, it's probably not necessary.

Pro:
Stellar line-up

Con:
Having to purchase tickets and hotel reservations simultaneously

Pro:
Cheap bargain on room

Con:
I've never had any desire to go to Vegas.

I'm torn.

Vegas really is a deathly boring city.  It is, however, a great venue for hosting events.  Everything is really cheap.

And how about:

Con -- I get sick of listening to music after a while

I think I would get exhausted trying to listen to three days of awesome bands.

I'm glad GBV is touring again, but what the hell.  Why can't bands just stay broken up anymore?  But yeah, seeing them was about the only thing that was really compelling--all the other bands I might have a chance to see coming through town.

so sometimes FOT forumer kittykittymeowmixhead and I are IN. However, I goofed and initially selected a quantity of TWO of a 2 person package with hotel. So a 1600 charge that's actually 4 people. When I refreshed, the Palms options were gone. But I did manage the weekend pass only with no palms rooms.

Are there any FOT who are going as a pair who got a palms room? The palms rooms have two beds and I'd be interested in splittng the cost of the room.

Yeah, trying to get tickets was pretty brutal. I nearly cried more than once. I was lucky enough to get a Weekend Pass, so no complaints here. I hope everyone else who wanted tickets got lucky like I did.

Kid Pain - you might want to look into getting a room at the Gold Coast, across the street. I was able to book a room for that weekend for around $240 (which, paired with the ticket, is actually cheaper than the package deal Matador was offering).

Las Vegas is the most fantastically American city there is.  If you can't enjoy it, either ironically or in reality, you aren't trying hard enough.

You damn hipsters.

Come on, you can see everything in Vegas in a day. But then I don't gamble or drink or frequent ladies of the night, so it's not really set up for me.

I like that there are Monster energy drink videos playing in the monorail. And Monster energy drink for sale in the monorail stations.

I'm with you on two out of three Y/N.

However, I do drink but not Monster energy drinks.

I am going to pass on this.

I still can't believe I managed to get 4 tickets for me and my friends. Apparently the whole thing sold out in 2 minutes. This is going to be a wild, wild weekend.

Hi there, I’m Matt, loyal listener and card carrying FOT for nearly 4 years. I’m introducing myself on this thread since my wife and I are going to be at the Vegas festival and it’d be great to meet some fellow FOT while we're there to geek out with at the shows (mostly excited for B&S and GBV).  We’re staying at the Rio across the street and we’ll probably spend a good amount of time at the Gold Coast ($5 blackjack tables and a really good, cheap bowling alley!) when we’re not at the shows. Hope to meet up with some of you there.
