The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just announced its latest class of nominees via press release. The list of 15 artists covers a broad range of eras and sounds, from rock (Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi) to pop (Neil Diamond, Chic, Donna Summer) to folk (Donovan, Laura Nyro) to hip-hop (Beastie Boys, LL Cool J) and more. Inductees will be announced in December and honored at a ceremony next March.

Bon Jovi?

Yay, Chic!

Yay, Chic!
I LOVE Chic!
Probably the best band on the list. Yes, Beastie Boys fans, the best band on the list.
-
I was also pleased to see Chic on that list.
Alice Cooper
Beastie Boys
Chic
Darlene Love
Dr. John
Tom Waits
That would be a decent class.
-
The end-of-ceremony jam sessions at these things are gonna get more and more MickNick PickMickNick-ish with each passing year. Musicians from vastly different universes.

You mean Alice Cooper as a band, right? "Killer" is such a great album...
-
I'm actually okay with all of the people on that list (except Bon Jovi).
Donna Summer's "I Feel Love?" Damn that song kicks ass!

Agreed, this is a heavy jam. Moroder? I hardly know her!

I'm sure there is a long list of folks that everyone feels should already be in the Hall (if you think it even matters), but there are two for me that stick out and appear to be glaring omissions:
T. Rex
The Smiths
Is anybody with me?

Of course.

What about Dave Cloud and the Gospel of Power?

Don't forget Rex Smith!

Smiths for sure. Not sure about T. Rex. I like them but I don't know about their historical signifigance. Comparing with those who have already entered the hall they probably belong. Same goes for the Zombies, they aren't that historically significant but they were a great band that belongs.... and please at least nominate the Monkees one of these years.

and please at least nominate the Monkees one of these years.
But they should be inducted under their proper name, "Mickey Dolenz and Some Other Chumps"...

I agree that Chic are awesome, but I'm going to go with Alice Cooper as the best band on this list. And I'm glad someone else pointed out how mind-meltingly awesome "I Feel Love" is.

I'll give the RRHOF credit. This is a good class of inductees. No Chic, but I'm sure they'll get inducted in the next few years.
(I wonder if Waits will even show up for the ceremony)
