The only question is, which one is the hastily constructed cover-up meant to divert public attention away from the other?

Those 50 cent cold, soft pretzels are so much better than those giant crusty junk pretzels you get in New York nowadays. Mall pretzels are better than New York pretzels. (To be fair, those same ripoff street vendors in Manhattan with the junk pretzels usually also have knishes.) Also the Philly pretzels probably kept me alive the year or so I lived there with no money.

The second best Philly food is probably Lorenzo and Sons.

I didn't know we were talking about breakfast foods. Maybe add scrapple to the breakfast hoagie and you'd have a contender.
