I was hanging out with my usually musically open-minded 6 year old son. I put on a song and within about 15 seconds he said,
"Dad, please turn it off. This song is giving me nightmares."
What song was it?
-
Is it "Ebony and Ivory"?
-
Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima
-
"Church of Anthrax"
-
Family Guy theme?
-
G Gallin? Something with "Sc*mf*ck" in the title?
Or "Feelings" by Morris Simon?
-
excellent guesses one and all.
Clues --
Ebony and Ivory is the right decade.
I believe the "nightmares" does not refer to the lyrics, but to the music.
-
Rockwell, "Somebody's Watching Me."
-
"Porcupine Pie."
-
Kate Bush?
-
Ein Stuhl In Der Hölle
-
"Born in the USA"? (If it was "Banned in the USA" my guess counts.)
-
Billion Dollar Babies
-
something off Ice Cream for Crow?
-
for me, the horror of Porcupine Pie is all in the "Oh my gawd...."
New clue (best show-related):
The song is from an album featured in the 33 1/3 series.
Not really a clue:
I posted this here because I thought what he said was cute and it might provoke amusing replies. In a way though, I really understand what he meant with this particular song.
Which reminds me...
Bonus Dad Question:
Years ago while still living at home, I was giving my dad a lift somewhere. I started the car and the tapedeck blasted out what I was previously listening to. Almost immediately he said, "What is that noise?" A few second later though he added, "I like that part on top. Nice. Melodic."
Guesses on this one, from another 33 1/3 featured album? (for the truly memory-gifted, I think I shared this same anecdote about my dad on a previous version of this board...)
-
Something from Swordfishtrombone.
-
"Persuasion" from 20 Jazz Funk Greats
-
"The Star-Spangled Banner."
-
Guesses on the latter:Ramones or Loveless
-
We have a winner on the Dad song. Yes indeed, it was something from Loveless...

"The Star-Spangled Banner."
Now you're just lapping us all repeatedly in the Cynicism 500.

I've missed you, buff.

I think about calling in sometimes, but it'll have to wait until I get caught up on the podcasts AND until I finish the Ace Frehley review.

The Son Song was 'Rebel Without a Pause' by Public Enemy.

-
Oh, it was just because of the repetitious squealing sound. It didn't bother me, but it's easy to understand how it could make someone feel crazy.

I think we've reached a new level in randomly-chosen images to accompany YouTube clips of songs.
