Title: mothers
Post by: Sarah on January 25, 2011, 03:34:56 PM
There are many proud fathers (real, not figurative [that's for Charlie]) on this board.  As far as I know, however, though they exist among the FOT, there are no mothers (again, real, not figurative).  This only occurred to me today.

The lady FOTs do seem to be younger than the gentleman FOTs in general (present company respectfully included).  Wonder why?

Piffle.

About the mother question, though, maybe if there were as many female FOT as male FOT, the proportion of mothers to nonmothers would be the same as that of fathers to nonfathers.  But maybe I have stumbled on something REALLY SIGNIFICANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I will "out" myself, as the mother of two sons, and we all listen to the Best Show together regularly.

Included? Excluded?  I was trying to be respectful of you, Lubec, by not including you with the younger crowd.

I legitimately thought this was gonna be about Frank Zappa.

Are you joking me (as Julie might say)?

Ah.  "Excluded" would have done the trick.  I thought you were doing a thing I hate.

My mom listens to the show  :)

She says it's comforting on the bus ride to and from work.

Oh, I know they listen.  They just don't seem to be registered here, or, if they are, they don't post or keep mum about their mumness.

My wife (and the mother of our son) listens, but doesn't post.

I think that's an excellent observation...

Wanna start a pregnancy pact?

I see it as the reverse - the guyFOTs in general seem to be younger. There are less ladyFOTs, true, but the ones I know are mostly older than all the guyFOTs.

Again, I'm not saying there are no mothers among the FOT, just that they don't seem to post here.

I don't post much because I am a working mom with a full time job outside of the home, and I don't have the luxury of checking the boards while I am at work. Once I am home, I try to stay off the computer so I can hang with my family.

Tonight is an exception because my workday began at 4 am and I am still too wired to sleep.

Of course.  I knew you're a mum.  Somehow, it slipped my mind.

. . . So that's one.

This is my first post (though I've been registered for a while), but I'm a mom.  I've got a toddler boy and a girl due in a few weeks.   :D  Howdy, ladies!
