I have to admit, after being bombarded with this ad during afternoon cartoon time, I gave in and dropped the two bills.
it was a lame voice message from FF (of course).

Do not feel any shame. I did the same thing.

While I never called it, I did immediately remember the phone number for this as soon as I read the topic. Similiarly, I never called the DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince hotline, but I still remember all of the lyrics for their hotline commercial. I wonder if Jazz ever worked on a track with Freddy, or if they still have beef with each (and Hammer) held over from the '88 Hotline Wars.

Uh, to repeat a question that's gotten a lot of play recently around Charlie Sheen: What did you think you were going to get?

My sister and I definitely did this when we were kids, to a parent-enraging extent one month. I don't think it was either of these numbers, but a similar one - something about monster stories. An entire business based on dumb kids not knowing any better... It's as brilliant as it is evil.

Kids are dumb.
We figured out we could call the (then-new) 976- numbers from our junior high school payphone (that's right, kids, there used to be things called payphones and there used to be things called junior high schools).
I mostly called the "Joke a Day" one. The jokes were very, very poor.
