However, I am looking forward to being so close to where the magic happens on Tuesday May 15th!

I would be thrilled to help arrange and take part in a meetup for when I'm there!

Jason Crazy Foot:
Is it possible to actually not just delete a thread, but to kind of actually physically burn it?

Petey, I'm going to talk to your Faffer. I will advise him that it may be prudent to look into purchasing a Net Nanny.

dammit.

This from the young lady who introduced the term "pegging" into our midst?

I know, you should have seen the stuff I got into on the internets when I was Petey's age.
Re: Pegging. This term is pretty mainstream now. I think Dan Savage might have coined it. In fact, I've been reading Brian Michael Bendis's Powers, and all of the Powers staff wrote about things they're really into lately in the back pages of a recent issue. Among the staff is some crazy broad who serves as an admin on his official site's board. I now know that she really wants to peg the current incarnation of Doctor Who. Watch out, David Tennant!

When I was Petey's age the internet was this thing your friend with the house that was nicer than yours had. You went on there to troll random yahoo chat rooms and pretend you were a 14 year old girl and not a 14 year old boy so you could catch your own predator! Then you went home and wished Sony would invent the Playstation already.

When I was Petey's age, PCs didn't exist, much less the Internet. Hell, I'm not sure calculators were even around.
Take that, whippersnappers!
-
Wait, how old is Petey? My family didn't get a PC until I was 13. That PC was an AST. You can read about AST on their Computer Information Web (http://www.ari-service.com/default.asp)! It's on one of the internets, which is not a dumptruck, but a series of tubes.
-
Wait, you're computer was a special thing? I hope you got rid of it right quick.

My interest in Powers waned, but early on it was an awesome book, jeepers it was great!

Actually, I do learning how to use the abacus in grammar school. (The slide rule, which came later, was a revelation.) And I used an adding machine very much like the one pictured both in community college and at one of my early jobs (in the billing department of a patent law firm in NYC). I also had a job as a keypuncher once.
