Title: Does this face look like anybody you know?

Just sayin'.  The painting is of Bach.

This is so striking I, too, Googled until I found the same painting on another site. I was ready to call shenanigans, but it appears to be legit.

Weird.

Vampire? Time-traveler? Highlander?

To me the resemblance is a bit nuts.  I know Mr. Scharpling has a strong aversion to "you know who you look like...", but at least Bach is universally celebrated.  Albeit not as a runway model.

Hey, I was once accosted in the Eiffel Tower* and asked if I was Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings, so I know what it's like to be told I looked like a person who is successful for reasons other than looks.

* The Eiffel Tower in Paris Las Vegas.  I have been to all three Eiffel Towers, including the one in King's Dominion.

That's really great, but to be clear I wikied the name that came with the picture and I believe that is Johann Christian Bach, youngest son of the more famous J.S. Bach but still a composer in his own right.

Dear God, that's like a photograph from next year's marathon.

Seems like it's legit. NJL is right, it's Johann Christian Bach.

but it's not that it's famous composer that's the crazy thing, it's that this was painted in 17 fucking 76!

This is like one of those pictures a character in a movie runs across that proves that something is up with one of the other characters.

Buffcoat, you may be in a movie. I hope Tom turns out to be an ageless good guy instead of some kind of monster, for your sake.

I bet Tom has the original of this is hidden somewhere, aging horribly, like in The Picture of Dorian Grey.

I believe I saw this painting in an episode of Scooby Doo with eye holes cut into it.

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Christian_Bach
Concert halls today are frequently filled with the music of Haydn, and comparatively rarely with that of J. C. Bach. But J. C. Bach's music is more and more being recognized for its high quality and significance ...

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Christian_Bach
Mozart esteemed J.C. Bach's music highly and arranged three sonatas from the latter's Op. 5 into keyboard concertos ...

Under-appreciated in his time. Kind of like Big Star ...

If there was a remake of Vertigo, where the James Stewart character was following Tom, that would be the picture that Tom went to the gallery to stare at.

I could imagine a movie where the vampire/Candyman falls in love with a character because he's the descendant/reincarnation of the old flame.

BUMP. I just posted the JC Bach image to twitter, so you can blame me for that. Now that I've done it, I realize that it ties in real well with the recent sound collage (http://friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,9371.210.html) phenomenon.
