Maybe this should be in the mike section. People bring in old stereos and dvd players and most episodes feature the staff being threatened with gun violence at some point. Anyone else seen this. Makin' Detroit proud.

It captures the depressing and desperate aspects of a pawn shop a little too well for me. This is definitely an AP Mike kind of show.

Never has a man been so rightfully greasy and oily like that guy on the show.

The owner is a caricature. The daughter is a nightmare. The son is another caricature. The oaf with the goatee seems pretty harmless. A friend of mine was on the show, she came in with her mom who was selling hissing cockroaches and lizards. I'm wondering of the presence of cameras incites customers to go bonkers. One of the employees is going to end up getting shot because he didn't want to buy an old vcr. People throw around the term "guilty pleasure" a lot but it REALLY applies here. I actually feel guilty for watching it.

In an episode I saw recently a guy referred to himself as "Big Bear" and came in and out a few times during the episode. He would growl and snarl like a bear while trying to sell various construction equipment. At one point he exclaimed "great googly-moogly" which is from Eddie Murphy: Delirious. Later he lifted up his shirt to reveal a tattoo over his chest and stomach of a bear wiping its butt with a rabbit.

I find it amusing that while Pawn Stars makes a big deal about not accepting stolen goods and the trouble it can cause for them, Hardcore Pawn seems to have no such reservations and appears to buy almost exclusively stuff that seems like it was stolen.
"Yeah I'm wondering how much I can get for these ten traffic cones?"

I like this show cause they don't try and make it educational. As the show goes on there probably are more people that go in just to show off for camera, but there are probably plenty of weirdos who wouldn't even know the channel it airs on exists. It is fun watching people explode with anger when they found out they won't get what they paid for an item back when they try and pawn it.
Also, MY KID COULDA GOT KILLED!

That is "goony goo goo."
"Great googly moogly" is from old blues records (later co-opted by Frank Zappa on the album "Apostrophe").

As compared to Grady Wilson's, "Good goobly goop."
