On this week's episode of NPR's Culturetopia Podcast: Big & Small Screens Edition (http://www.npr.org/templates/archives/archive.php?thingId=126677937), there is a segment on Unsung Heroes. During the segment lead-in Tom Scharpling is mentioned as a quintessential unsung hero as the straight man in the Scharpling & Wurtser combo.
Forgive me if this was covered elsewhere on the board but it just couldn't be contained. 8)

Think you got the wrong link because this is where I downloaded it- http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2011/08/19/139789103/pop-culture-happy-hour-unsung-heroes-new-television-and-more-blind-spots (http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2011/08/19/139789103/pop-culture-happy-hour-unsung-heroes-new-television-and-more-blind-spots)
I know it says NPR, but if you were to divide the NPR crew into snobs vs. slobs these guys would definitely be on the slob side of the equation.
