...with colored marbles.
Okay, so this is easily my dorkiest thread yet (please don't show it to my wife -- she'll take the dog and kid and leave), but while listening to various Gems this morning I started thinking about a few little missing bits of the otherwise impressively tight Newbridge continuity that continue to eat away at my insides, not unlike Chocolageddon.
1. How did Tom and Darren reconcile after Darren tried to box/bronze him in '05?
2. How did Darren's dad, Edgar Ploppleton, survive a barging?
3. What is the exact state of Tom's NB family? How's Dom doing? And more importantly, what's up with John, Shawn, Danny, and Rhoda?

Did Tom ever get his cases of Smirnoff Ice?

I've only been listening for the past two years, but a good number of Newbridge calls have ended with some type of explosion. I don't think we are meant to interpret the callers as dead. I think its just a comedy show. Or...parallel universes? Crisis on Infinite Newbridges?
-
True. I'm certain Philly Boy Roy survived this week's "explosion" (I think JW dropped the phone).

I figure that if we never hear from them again they're dead. If they return then they somehow got better.
I also figure that Tom realized him and Darren had to work together so Tom just decided not to hold any petty little grudges. We've all had coworkers attempt to murder us, haven't we? You've just gotta let bygones be bygones sometimes.

Honestly, it's really just The Strange Case of Edgar Ploppleton that I'd love to hear resolved. I'm already pretty impressed at how S&W tackled the Monroe Family Tree and simply hung a lantern on the fact that it's a giant family with, like, 14 brothers.

I just imagine they end up like Wile E. Coyote, all crispy and sooty, just their eyes untouched, blinking. By the next scene, they're fine.

Darren has been kind of a creep to Tom even before they were working together. When he was three Darren stole his Wacky Packages. Dr. Fred Meyers was impressed/mortified by their continuing acquaintanceship, and thinks it's because Tom is scared of D-Plop. I agree though that Tom's just mature enough to get beyond these trifles.
Didn't Power Pop Pop-Pop survive a barging too?
-
I forgot about the Wacky Packages incident. Perhaps Darren and Tom have a kind of mutually dependent thing going on, with Tom often taking the role of the abused spouse. This would explain his returning -- not just to Darren -- but to their band, "The Consolidated," post-bronzing attempt.
Another funny thing about Tom/Darren is that when Bryce revealed to Tom that Darren was staying at Newbridge Acres to get over his "blue" addiction, it was the first time Tom had ever heard Darren's last name.
I don't recall Quad P surviving his barging. Then again, off the top of my head, the only Power-Pop Pop-Pop calls I remember are the main two from Summer 2007.

He attacks Newbridge Green Raiders supporter Darth Unitas Rick Remington in the March 31, 2009 episode. Thanks to the awesome Newbridctionary for making it much easier to track these things down and find the call times!
-
Oh, my God, I totally missed that one. Well, I know what I'm listening to this morning.
-
Finally listened to Rick Remington call...
Quad P does indeed return at the end, mud-caked and brandishing his Popper. In fact, it sounds a little like maybe S&W were going to have Quad P "pop" up in a number of future calls, as some kind of Newbridge boogeyman. Alas...

Do we know what happened to Ronald Thomas Clontle? I don't recall hearing him formally withdraw from the race for mayor when all the other fringe candidates were doing so. He also seemed to be in the process of being victimized by Sheila Larsen and Dom in some weird scam.
-
Where is Hot Rockin Ronnie today?
-
Yeah, the first time Darren called in with one of his "prank voices," I got unreasonably excited, thinking it was the return of HRR.
-
Where is Hot Rockin Ronnie today?
Yes.
-
Thinking about Zachary Brimstead, how did he get his "esquire" title? Isn't that reserved for people with law degrees? As in, "Roderick J. Martinez, Esq."
Does ZB have a highly educated past we've never heard about before?
-
I want to know what's going to become of Sheila Larson's attempted murder spree.

I've long wondered about Sheila's story. I know that Sheila has been involved with some of Tom's relatives but do Tom and Sheila have a history?

Yes. They both attended a Prong show in 1991 at L'Amour in Brooklyn.
