Title: Regarding Dogmo's Tribute Episode
Post by: sofia on September 13, 2011, 04:21:25 PM
Hi Tom, my name is Sofia from Texas. Yesterday, mine and my boyfriend's cat, Kitty, was put to sleep. She was only 5 years old, and suddenly developed liver failure about a week ago.  We're exceptionally poor, but we begged and borrowed to try and make her better. We did everything we could to save her but she was so sick, and obviously fading away.  Upon the advice of family and friends, we knew we had to say goodbye to our little monkey. We made the difficult decision to have her put down yesterday morning. It was pretty upsetting watching her take her last breath, the two of us falling apart in the exam room, although the staff at Alamo dog and cat hospital were amazingly caring and supportive. Neither of us had ever been through anything like that, we're fairly young. I turned 25 three days ago. Anyway, we wanted you to know how comforting it was listening to your May 26th, 2009 best show, paying tribute to Dogmo. We're both long time listeners of The Best Show and it's been a shared love and source of jokes for us throughout our relationship. I was wondering if we could possibly get a playlist from that episode, mainly the songs which played during the first hour of the show. When we receive her ashes, we'll be holding a memorial service at her favorite tree and I would like to play some of the songs you played for Dogmo. She was a silly little thing, always cracking us up like Dogmo did for you. I've attached a photo I took about a year ago of Kitty while she was cat napping. If you don't have time to respond, I understand. Thank you for The Best Show. It's has and always will be a joy and comfort.

So sorry to hear about your loss.  You can be sure many people on this board have been through what you have been through and can empathize completely...and then again, the experience and the pain is unique to each of us.  My thoughts are with you.

Thank you to everyone for your condolences. It's been a tough few days but we're getting by on the shoulders of the Best Show community. Kitty would've read your messages, rolled her eyes, and turned around to wipe her tears. "I've got allergies! F*** I've just got allergies!". Here's one more photo I took of her last winter when our apartment was so cold (no heating) we built a fire which kitty found fascinating. We're pretty sure she would've killed as a Best Show caller. Much funnier than anyone we know. She was a free spirit and everyone who met her loved her. We'll miss you, Kitty. We love you. Goodbye.

There's nothing funnier than a funny cat.  You were lucky to have each other.
