I nominate Drake's "Take Care". I actually consider myself a Drake fan. That being said, who is this for?

Paul, those are all pretty bad (well, I don't mind the Wild Flag one).
I work at a Barnes and Noble in the music section, so my picks are little more... top 40
Off the top of my head, these are my front runners:
The Beastie Boys and Toro Y Moi are bad, but those have been posted so they escape my snark.

The Strokes - Angles
Eye-raping colors.
Selena Gomez - When the Sun Goes Down
This is a terrible concept for a Disney-kid album and the font, photoshop job, and costume are all garish
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e3/Gold_Cobra_album_cover.jpg)
Limp Bizkit - Golden Cobra
Fred and the boys are back! The first full length with Wes Borland doing his thing! It looks like they let him draw the cover too.

Pictureplane - Thee Physical
I can't think of anything.
And the worst album cover of the year:
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
I glanced at it a couple times before I realized she was the motorcycle. Reminds me of that artist who was popular in the 80s that did all those stupid robot/people/car paintings. I remember a family friend had a giant print of one of them in their basement. Those were lame and so is this. It's not arty, or edgy, or subversive, or even goofy, it's just bad.
-
Wow. Nice work, Methanolcereal. Those are all exceptionally horrible. The Lady Gaga one is particularly ridiculous...almost Spinal Tap-ish.

Those are all horrible.

The world needs more album covers that take M. C. Escher's worn-out gimmick and do it, like, infinitely worse. Keepin' it fresh with the Strokes!

That album cover is more than a little creepy. She looks like she came straight out of Bugsy Malone.

This is a weird trend in teen novels now:

Apologies for the lazy-ass cut 'n' paste from amazon.
-
For me the Limp Bizkit cover wins hands-down. The fact that the band name isn't legible puts it over the top.

Is "gold cobra" Fred Durst's nickname for his weiner or something?
-
The Toro y Moi one is just gross.

Enough of these kids; let's see what an old pro can do.

I kinda like that Strokes cover, but I have a thing for late 70s/ 80s commercial illustration. Haven't listened to them since 2003, though.

I have seriously been considering this is best album cover of the millenium so far.

I think this one is pretty cool. Imagine a wedding cake in that design.

It's not even a mastodon.
Just some kind of weird goat with mutiple mechanical jaws.
Rubbish.

Technically, I don't think the Sebastian Bach album qualifies for 2011 since it's just the soundtrack to the 1995 film by his brother Noah Baum Bach.

"During the production of the album, Borland came up with its title, Gold Cobra. Borland says that it does not have any meaning, and that it was chosen because it fit the style of music the band was writing for the album."
Bummer.

"Dudes...not sure what to call this album. I want to call it rap-rock throwback, but it doesn't quite capture what we're doing here. I wish I could articulate myself better in situations like this..."
"Well, to me our new stuff sounds like a gold cobra."
"Hold on. Say that again."

should be more

I dig that Mastodon one. I saw some other stuff by that artist a while back and loved it. Psychedelic animal totems are cool in my book.

Fine point.
Still you gotta admit a mastodon totem would be more apropos.
-
I saw them years ago and bought a shirt with a cool whale on it, but every time I wear it someone points out, "That's not a mastodon." yup

Maria Minerva's Cabaret curious? Cabaret Couscous?
I can't look at it anymore, my eyes just aged twenty years. Maybe this should be re-titled "visual masochism thread".
-
I think it's a still from that early CG video tape they'd play at furniture stores back in the day.. The next album will have a hummingbird, and 'III' will be a minecart ride!

I am so tempted change my avatar to this picture... I think what makes the photo is that at the angle from which it's photographed her left leg looks amputated...
ETA: I couldn't resist it...

I had to stare at this for 3-4 solid minutes before I could even begin to figure out what's happening, and I'm still not 100% sure.
