Browsing through the aisles of my local Kroger when what to my wondering eyes should appear but:

All that and 32% of your Saturated Fat, too.
Should Mr. Zeigler (who is growing on me) happen to visit the Triangle or should Mr. Zeigler's Triangle-native friend Jon Wurster be over that way, they can be found in the front of the candy aisle at the Kroger on NC Highway 54 near Southpoint Mall.

Just Born? Those are the wonderful people who bring us Peeps!

I work for a medical journal and our office got some free samples of these. The verdict: I'm sticking with Milky Ways.
-
Soon I will eat it and let you know if it's any good.
I thought it was weird that the product is a candy bar called "Peanut Chews." I know that PBR refers to killing someone with a sharpened "Peanut Chew" - it would appear that Peanut Chews is both the singular and the plural.
Of course, given Mr. Zeigler's penchant for grammatical and pronunciatory irregularities, I shouldn't be surprised.
-
I think Roy was referring to these:

You could extract wisdom teeth with one of those things. I thought they had been discontinued, but the blue is just new [UGLY] packaging I guess. I'd be interested to see if they still taste the same.
-
So now they've glommed the 7 bite size pieces together into one bar? What holds them together? Caramel? Nougat?
Something more... sinister?
I'm filled with dread of my Peanut Chews eating excursion later this week.
-
The Peanut Chews taste ok. However, eating one is very unpleasant with peanuts and a caramel-type coating getting stuck in my teeth. This candy is almost as hard as America's worst candy: Riesen

Yeah - if it were Swiss chocolate they'd say "Swiss chocolate." I bet Riesen's "European chocolate" is now made in Bulgaria by former witches.

It always gets me how the European versions of US names are different - forex Milky Way (EUR) = 3 Musketeers (US)
The worst mass-produced candy bar for Americans is, hands down, Mr. Goodbar.
"Peanuts in granular milk chocolate" - sounds appetizing! And the peanuts should be described as "rancid." Boo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can you make a BAD candy bar?
-
The Peanut Chew is nature's perfect food, next to Tasty Kakes. Respect must be paid.

We have 3 Musketeers and Milky Way in the US. I think the difference is that 3 Musketeers has caramel.
-
Riesens are bad, but what about the Mary Jane? My teeth hurt just thinking about them. And they tasted so terrible!

Nick,
I am in the US - and 3 Musketeers has never had caramel. Apparently it orginally had three different flavors - choc van straw, but never caramel.

MJs are without question the worst candy of all-time. My grandmother used to dispense these for Halloween.

The European Milky Way has never ever been topped with caramel, so it's more like a 3 Mustekeers. Fact. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_Way_bar)
-
As I said, Milky Way (EUR) = 3 Musketeers (US)
Do I need some other naming convention?

ICK! Horrifying candy. My grandmother made a big deal about Mary Janes as well. I think it's the tie in to childhood memories.

Yes, preferably in semaphore.

Ok, now I see what you mean. And you're right... I meant to say Milky Way has caramel while 3 Musketeers is all nougat. And for the record, a Snickers is just a Milky Way with peanuts.
-
Peanut Chews was (?) / were (?) a pretty decent American style candy bar. Even with the new packaging, it's seven little, distinct Peanut Chews to a bar.
I think it's caramel or some close substitute. Not bad. It would be hard to sharpen one, though.

I'm a big fan of a Charleston Chew. I miss banana Charleston Chews. :'(
-
the super-sticky dental-work-demolishing substance in the original peanut chews was molasses. They were an all-natural candy bar... I'm sure now it's some amalgamation of corn syrup and scary stuff.
