Kurt did!

If the Reigning Sound release you're referring to is Abdication...For Your Love, I didn't include it because it's an EP.  I only included LPs and then noted a single or EP if an LP-releasing band also released merit-worthy material in another format, e.g., Dum Dum Girls.

I was surprised to see Total Control make Rob Sheffield's list in Rolling Stone:

OK, I just checked and other 2011 releases I bought (not including reissues) were:

Wire, Red Barked Trees
David Kilgour, Left By Soft
Dirty Beaches, Badlands
Jonsi & Alex, Riceboy Sleeps
Wooden Shjips, West

They all made my Top 20 for new 2011 releases, bringing my Top 20 up to a total of 11. A banner year!

I like Tom Waits quite a bit, Nudie.  However, I don't run out and buy every new thing.  I wait and cherry-pick.

Great song. And yet if I caught myself telling someone aloud I was listening to "Ancient Echoes, by Eternal Tapestry" I would expect to be taunted a lot.

Made one major ommision from my list.......

Charles Bradley - No Time For Dreaming

I love old, deep southern soul but I've never really dug on the Daptone stuff. This LP was an exception. I'm not sure there's a record that came out this year that sounded as good as this the first time I listened to it. It was the closest thing to seeing the good Rev. John Wilkins at Gonerfest.
