I've never posted anything before but couldn't contain my excitement...The Marc and Tom Show just appeared in my iTunes under WTF!
Just spreading the news.....later taters.
-
I hope it becomes a semi-regular thing. I realize they're both very busy people, but it'd be cool if they could sporadically put up shows on occasions where they happen to be in the same town.

I was thrilled to hear "Mausoleum" by The Tokeleys, featuring John Junk and Evan "Funk" Davies, as the introductory music to this podcast.
-
Thanks for pointing that out. You're a good man Omar.

May I suggest an alternative title?
"It's That Thing with Marc & Tom"

I listened tonight on a 3.2 mile walk home from work ( why not? It was wonderful here in New England, for once ) and I loved every second. Enjoyable, informative and often "ell-oh-ell-eee." The people I passed probably thought I was a nutter, but you can never help actually laughing out loud, can you?
Even if it only happens once a year, it's a great start. Loved every second. Best Show WTF?, ever.

Thanks Omar, I wanted to find out what that was but I couldn't understand the lyrics enough to google them. That got me so depressed I ate my house. But now I can listen to the song whenever I want!

Sorry to hear you are now homeless, KOB.
How's the social safety-net working for you?

Luckily I've found a pack of stray dogs that let me join. I'm currently the omega but I'm optimistic about advancement!

i had no idea this was in the works, but MAN I got excited when I saw it in my queue! I enjoyed this immensely and would love to hear more.

It always comes down to luck doesn't it?
Congratulations!
Your optimism is admirable.

Loved the episode. Marc and Tom have great chemistry. I really hope this isn't a one-off.

I never disliked Marc Maron, but I am new to him over all. (I somehow missed his entire comedy career until a few years go figure.) But he really does deserve the praise for WTF. At this point, his podcast has became a requirement for every professional comedian, and it all started out of desperation and some basic recording equipment in his digs. I'm so impressed with Maron these days.
So obviously, I'm happy to see Tom and Marc build their friendship in public like this. That said, as amazing as this podcast was, I'm not sure I want to hear more *precisely because of what they were talking about*, which is working each's own ass off with zero payoff, literally. They managed to not make it a depressing discussion at all, which is a feat of amazing talent. But when I put the headphones down, I became really sad and angry at how unfair it is for them in reality.
It's clear to me why I love the Best Show and why I'm quickly getting addicted to WTF: these guys have proved in the most raw way what good guys they are, and they deserve the world.
EDIT: I would love to hear more of this podcast in general, obviously. I realize I wasn't clear on that note.

The Christian Bale meltdown analysis by Tom was so freaking brilliant.
-
I remember several years ago on this board talking about the possibility of Marc Maron going on Tom's show as just not a good idea. Thus I must question every opinion I have on everything in the world--as it is obvious that I was completely wrong on every level.
-
I'm not really a fan of WTF, but I have listened to it a few times and enjoyed it (based on the guest mostly.) I understand why it is so popular but for me I can't listen to it very often because I find Marc Maron's whole persona kinda hard going.
Let me clarify. I think he seems like a good guy overall and a funny man but the whole on-the-cusp of a breakdown thing and the constant referencing of therapy and psychiatric medicines and the intense dissection of his whole character is not for me. I'm usually a fairly relaxed, contented person and when I'm not digging deep into my own psyche does nothing for me, hence why hearing someone else do it to themselves is maybe not so fulfilling.
That said I do not think bad of him or his show, more that it is just not for me. Please don't think of this as criticism of Marc Maron....
.. Because I really enjoyed the Marc and Tom show. It was witty and entertaining and fun (despite the psyche-searching.) Clearly the guys had a blast doing it and that came through. The bit about Tom Waites killed in particular.
My point, I think, is that if you take someone you are luke-warm too (in this case Maron) and add in someone you are white-hot to (in this case Tom) it doesn't come out somewhere in the middle, it comes out great. I hope non-Best Show loving WTF fans get the opposite effect!

I appreciate Tom's synopsis of Moby Dick
I've figured out my whale is trying to convince people to listen to Warcloud

What was the music? I really liked it.

I was wondering who did that song. I really liked it. It reminded me of early Archers of Loaf.

On today's WTF, Marc says there will be a new Marc & Tom show coming soon!
