Title: Name of movie where two island kids get lost at sea: Anyone remember?

I swear I've seen a movie that has a plot very similar to this real event:

In the movie two island boys steal their (uncle's?) little aluminum boat and then get lost at sea.  I think it involves alcohol.  They end up being rescued so it's a happy ending.  One of them moves to Australia or New Zealand at the end I think.

While they're out at sea there's some controversy having to do with the motor.

I've been trying to think of the name of this movie for a day now and it's driving me bonkers.

I wonder if this was just a vivid dream.  My Googling, Binging and DuckDuckGoing have all failed.
