Hey guys -
I did another episode of The Marc and Tom Show with Marc Maron. We have put it up on iTunes. It's $2.99.
The link to it is here: http://t.co/GIcHRXm6 (http://t.co/GIcHRXm6)
It's a great conversation between the two of us that made me laugh a lot. Really worth hearing in my humble opinion.
Between me and Marc we have provided literally thousands of hours of free entertainment on our respective shows. This is a good way for us to both make a little bit of money that helps keep us doing what we love to do.
And please spread the word and retweet it and post it and everything!
Thanks!
Tom.

Yes!! So excited that it's friday and now I have this to look forward to listening to over the weekend....and I get to support the TWO FUNNIEST GUYS IN THE BIZ!!!!
-
Gene Simmons must have gotten in the ear of The King of Free Entertainment.
-
Tom really deserves a tip jar link on the front page of FOT.com that goes to a PayPal account so we could send him some scratch once in a while for all the great stuff he does.
-
More than happy to pay three bucks for this.
And no Pepsi commercials!
-
I've been thinking to myself lately that Tom just needs to put something out there that I can buy, and here it is. Spooky.
-
He's just going to spend it all on generous tips!
-
It's a really good show, folks. Go get it!!
-
This was the first purchase I've made from the iTunes store since June 25, 2010.
-
I bought this and it was great. Tom describing Bowcraft as "one of those places where you can see where the rides are plugged in?" Perfect.
-

Haha - first for me since May something 2011. The purchase wouldn't go through for some reason and I %&@#ed for a while until I realized the credit card had expired.
-
Holy cow, now I gotta get a credit card.
-
Or you could buy an iTunes card! :-)
-
Or use Paypal.
-
Listened to it last night while watching the Celtics game - what a great chat! I hope they continue to do these!

Aren't you worried the revenooers will find you?

I'm only nine minutes into this thing and it's already one of the best podcasts ever. It's the podcast version of the Titus video so far. My friends who grew up out of state have no idea what I'm talking about when I swear upon diners. Marc also talked about the Pompton Queen diner. It's still on Route 23. I had a breakfast there one morning hungover the night after my ex-girlfriend hooked up with someone at a party I was at. This was the second saddest breakfast of my life. The saddest came at the Edison Diner on Route One the night after said ex-girlfriend dumped me.
And everyone who grew up in New Jersey has the "This is where my family grew up/oh dear lord this place is hell" thing.
I will unpause and listen more. But, yes, more of this please. I would pay $50 for this.
-
Yeah, this is the greatest thing.
I hope so much that Marc & Tom get a chance to record more.

You should see him meditate.
-

Shuddup, don't give 'em ideas.
I miss authentic diners in my area, there are only a few left that a: are actually open all night and b: haven't become "charming local landmarks" for tourists. The community college/ivy league talk, first few albums one bought, and the older (in my case old and weird) guy/kid in the neighborhood who showed you cool old music all hit home. These shows are magical.
-
So glad I splashed out the three bucks for this. Without giving anything away, the last 10 minutes or so include some of the most poignant conversation I've ever heard on a podcast. I've rarely heard the experience of being a teen in NJ described so eloquently.
-
And yeah, I do hear this as an audio counterpart to the Titus video. I've explained to my wife, and other non-NJans, how I literally teared up when they unfurled the NJ state flag at the end. Without exception, people think I'm kidding about that.
-
Funny thing is, we didn't have the cool (or creepy) older guy in my neighborhood. But we did have the radio. As much as Tom rags on WRSU on his show, I can't underestimate how important it was to know that half an hour away, there was a Matt Pinfield playing these records and people celebrating him for that. More than the music itself, it was an affirmation that my life was going to improve.
-
I've been thinking to myself lately that Tom just needs to put something out there that I can buy, and here it is. Spooky.
I was thinking the same thing. For good or bad, I think of Tom as my radio friend and his inability to get paying work was irritating and bumming me out. I'm glad I could do something to show my appreciation to "The King of Free Entertainment" as well as for Marc, who has been responsible for some of the best interviews I've ever heard.
I loved the Pink Floyd/tales of musical exposure portion of the conversation. I had an uncle who exposed me as a kid to a lot of new music. I remember borrowing his copy of Pink Floyd's The Wall and thinking it was one of the spookiest things I ever heard. I'm think seeing the cover art on the video box for the film version before even hearing it for the first time made it even creepier.

Hey FOT,
I only saw one of these when I searched on iTunes, yet I see it referred to as if there have been others. Where can I find them? I'd be happy to further contribute to some good paid entertainment. Thanks!

There was a free one that was posted on the WTF podcast feed a couple of months ago. So far there's only been two, if I'm not mistaken.
-
Thanks for the quick response!

-
also there was a live wtf ep with tom that was a slam dunk.
bought the marc and tom show and loved it.
-
i still think about hugo and moby dick a lot.
-
That's 2 for 2 at me being choked up at a key point during a Marc & Tom EP.
This time it was Tom talking about how he feels when visiting Princeton. I have the same exact reaction for the *opposite* reason. My family made me give up everything to have that envious experience (at a Univ of California, but same goal.) What I'm livid about is that, well, I'm socially & mentally still catching up on the other parts of life. I'm good at being financially stable on my own and finding menus of solitude, but um not much else, haha.
My ultimate point being: this was another really important podcast for me to listen to. I'm more than satisfied I paid.
-
menus of solitude
(facepalm) ... moments. Not menus.
This may be autocorrect's best assault on me ever.

I assumed it was autocorrect shenanigans.
Except I thought you had meant to say Venus of solitude.
;D

When I read that, I thought it was a Berkeley thing. Ha!
-
I would happily pay for this, but I don't use itunes and I can't see a way to get it w/out. Is there any hope for me?
-
I'm pretty sure Maron said it's iTunes only. Maybe that will change at some point.

-
Yeah I'd buy this too but I'm not gonna put that junk-ware on my computer. Why don't you or marc put this up for direct download, the iTunes mafia wouldn't steal there cut either then.
-
If you don't want to buy it because it's on iTunes, don't buy it. Maybe if we do more of these we'll build up an infrastructure to have it available on multiple platforms, but for the time being it's iTunes only.
Tom.
-
What is the music at the beginning and end? Its awesome.
-
That's The Tokeleys! Featuring, among others, FOT John "Junk" Hogan and Evan "Funk" Davies.
-

PayPal an FoT who does use iTunes the money and they could buy it and send you the file maybe?
Just an idea.
The FoT Tip Jar is a great idea.
-
I was able to get it, so yay for that. It was as great as I expected it to be!

My first ever iTunes review! And I wrote it before I even listened to the show! This must be how Armond White feels all the time!
-
I bought it over my lunch hour and got to listen to it for the last hour and a half or so of work, great listen as always, Tom and Marc's chemistry is always really engaging and winsome. I look forward to leaving a review later.
The idea of Tom pitching for Big Momma's House 3 is just astounding.
-
I'm sure everyone on here has already picked the new episode up by now, but it's pretty awesome.
-

Did your review actually show up, Barry? It's been a day and mine still hasn't shown up...
-
I bought it on the 18th, and then iTunes charged me for it again yesterday. I'd be more upset if not for the fact that it's helping to fund something that I love. iTunes is lucky that it's Tom & Marc who they charged me twice for!

I believe mine is up there, Iago. Not my most eloquent, but from the heart, and disarmingly positive.
-
Thanks, Barry--I gave up. iTunes is just the worst in so many ways

It takes a day or two but they show up eventually.
Another great conversation. I wish their schedules allowed for more M & T Shows.
-
OK Crusher, thanks. I would love it if they shot video of one and posted it on you tube
-
Great episode! Money well spent. Can't wait for the next one!

always feels good to put something in the tip jar of folks who have given alot of genuine laughter and joy to others

Not sure what you mean by "tip jar".
-
to give something back in appreciation. i understand im purchasing a product. tip jar wasnt meant as a diminutive. More like these guys deserve all they get for these itunes shows and much more for all the other great programming they work to provide for free

I am poor. Marc and Tom are not as poor as me. But I am willing to overlook that. They are smart. They are funny. I will give them $3. They make me laugh. I like to laugh. It makes me forget the bad and think on the good.
