I don't think Rabin really gives the film enough credit for being actually very funny. I think he's a smart and funny writer, but I don't usually see eye-to-eye with him on comedies. He always hates the lowbrow stuff that I quite enjoy.

a lot of the movie reviews on the AV Club perplex me quite a bit.  So often I'll see a good grade, like a B or higher, then the actual review makes it sound pretty bad.  The reverse is true, a low grade given to a movie that they make sound pretty good.
