Hey Tom - watching the news coming in from NJ. Really scary stuff.
Hope you're holding up alright and the homestead is sound.

Update much appreciated.
Not having water can be rough.
Can you use flood water to flush toilets?

NJ/NY/CT were rocked hard. Good to see this tweet from Tom from a few hours ago:
"Thanks to all those concerned and everyone who checked in. We can talk more about this when I'm back in the real world."
We're doing alright here in Southwestern CT. Terrible seeing the news roll in from NY/NJ. Hope other Friends of Tom in the greater tri-state area are doing alright.

Has anyone gone to Massa's to find out if AP Mike made it?
-
I'm fine. Power was restored to my block on Thurs. although parts of Bayonne are still without power. I went down to my father's house in central NJ on Wed. hoping they might have power. They didn't (it was finally restored yesterday). I came back to Bayonne (with a full tank of gas--getting gas in Bayonne is completely nuts at this point) on Sat. and was immediately summoned to Massa's where I worked without power (we're using chunks of ice from the high school hockey rink to keep the beer cold!). Joe Puppy's trailer got flooded by Newark Bay. Instead of taking my advice (or anyone else's, for that matter) to go to the shelter across from Massa's or to a friend's place, he spent the night standing in the dark in water, as he put it: "up to my balls," while his furniture and belongings floated around him. He's already contacted FEMA and is waiting to see if he'll have electricity when it's finally restored (I don't think this is likely). Meanwhile, good neighbors are helping him out.

Christ, Mike. I am so sorry for Joe. I hope FEMA is able to help him out.
Hockey rink ice...brilliant!

Glad to hear you're ok. I was listening to NPR yesterday and they were doing a story from Bayonne. They said there was one gas station open in the entire town, and that the line went back for hours, and that the ration was $40. Pretty crazy stuff.
Hopefully FEMA comes through for Joe. And hopefully the power comes back to Massa's before all the ice runs out!

I hope this insanity ends for my friends in the NY/NJ region soon, it's been a week already.

Good to hear from you Mike, glad you're hanging in there.
