Like beanie babies, steampunk, psychobilly, and frisbee golf, tall bikes are a fully entrenched subculture. They will survive.

The cynic in me used to goof on 'em, but this is impressive. If ultramega tall bikes becomes a thing, I'm all for it. Whatta sight to see!

I know I'm supposed to be scoffing, but that POV photography is thrilling to watch. I could do without the blue leopard-print pants, though. Lets fix those pants in post.

Did New York introduce a tall bike share program for Brooklyn? And are they complaining about it through their ironic mustaches?

Truer words have never been typed.

Perhaps we should ask The Invisible Hipster...
(invoking Claude Rains): "I believe MY bike is taller than yours!"

I laughed.

Will tall bikes continue to grow "exponentially" taller or have we reached the (near) limits of height?

I fear for a future of competitive tall bikery where rival riders slowly raise the bar ala the incremental increases in pole vaulting. Tall bikes are sports entertainment not sports competition.

My 10-year self-imposed Critical Mass moratorium will likely end this summer. I just gotta check out the current state of tall biking.

FACT: Tractor trailers have a handle on the top so if your tall bike is tall enough you can grab a hold of it and enjoy a free ride so to speak.

I believe that technique is called "skitching". I've seen bike messengers (another cycling demo unfairly vilified as "cooler than thou") do this using the bumpers or handles on the back of line hauls. Quite impressive.

Videos on wimp.com are usually very much safe for work and suitable for all ages. That means no violence or serious injuries or anything of the sorts.

Oh, I had a feeling the bicyclist turned out OK, but my commute from last year coincided with much of that route and it would terrify me on a normal-sized bike, let alone that monstrosity.
