In a bit of an office lull the girls are talking about twins. It's the usual stuff 'How would you cope?', 'Would you dress them the same' and of course the always hilarious 'evil one' discussion.
I chipped in with a story about a couple who had triplets and then they had twins, triplets and twins in, quadruples and 'quinns in (by this time I was singing). I went on to say how 'they sang every morning 'how lucky we are. Living in a Windmill in Amsterdam-ja!'
Nothing! In fact worse than nothing through my little performance I was constantly interrupted with comments like ‘No, I never saw that’ and ‘My friend had triplets’.
Just shut up, I’m trying to sing a song here. By the time I’d finished the moment had been lost and I think most of the girls thought I genuinely knew a family of singing mice.
Do any other Metro readers have examples of them wasting their own time? Mark your entries ‘Feeding Pearls to Swine’.

I don't know that you'd do any better in a contemporary U.S. office with a parallel American 1965-era semi-novelty ballad.

But was the mouse wearing a cape?
