Title: WFMU Record Fair 2013
Post by: mackro on October 20, 2013, 04:05:10 AM
I'll be in New York the weekend of the WFMU Record Fair.  If anyone else is going to the Fair, you'll probably pass me by or see me, and I'm definitely into some sort of meet-up, either at the fair or later in the evening.

Hope to see you there, Mackro. I will probably be there Saturday afternoon.

Not sure if I am going Saturday or Sunday. If I go Sunday afternoon, I'm definitely going to heckle Mel Diamond during the Banannaz screening.

[Sunday] 2:15pm: BANANAZZZ, plus Q&A with the band's 'enigmatic genius' frontman Craig Evanhalen, director Kate Sweeney and legendary impresario Mel Diamond!
BANANAZZZ tells the story of Craig Evanhalen, a self-proclaimed "enigmatic genius" with the hunger and finances for stardom that starts a "punk" band. However, his giant ego, delusions and insecurity drive him and his band into chaos.

I was there today (Sunday)--how'd you do Mackro?

I really liked the Norton Records table w--picked up Oblivians and King Khan albums from there. Thanks to Wurster writing about them, I picked up a couple Blue Oyster Cult albums on the cheap--excited for those. I managed to find Led Zep's In Through the Out Door album too--I know, crazy, what are the odds of finding one of those.

I met Mel Diamond--could tell immediately that I was in the presence of Creepy. Brrrrrr.

On a less shiver-inducing note, got to introduce myself to AP Mike and he couldn't have been nicer. I was super glad to see that he was carrying headshots around and signing them for the adoring throngs. God knows I hope Mike can capitalize on his acting chops and Best Show connexes to carve out a comfortable-if-not-lavish Entertainment Biz career. The man deserves no less.

I honestly can't tell if this is a joke.

Me neither. Wonderful isn't it?

gravy, I was there both days. I made it just in time to catch BANANAZZZ which was very funny indeed.

The AP Mike headshot giveaway is absolutely true. I have one of them!

Can you scan the signed headshot (and then post it, of course)? I need to see this.
