Title: How can I download old episodes?
Post by: DadHasADD on December 18, 2013, 10:51:47 AM
Does anyone know where I can DOWNLOAD 2000-2012 episodes? I am not allowed to stream at work and can't even do so on my personal laptop because I can't get a wireless connection here. I would like to download an episode or two at home to listen to later in the day. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm considering going back from the beginning and going episode by episode.  Going to take some work though.  I have no easy solution on converting the real audio files.  I'm sure there is a way, I just haven't looked that deeply into it yet.

What I think would be cool is for WFMU to offer the complete Best Show archives during the marathon.

if you have vlc, you can use it to transcribe it to different formats. I was considering doing this for a show or two a night, but my internet at home is horrible, so i can never get it to complete a download (which messed up the whole process) or stream the show past a few minutes.

There are a couple of threads in the Download forum that talk about this.

Can I get a link to those threads? I must be dumb and can't find them. I'd be happy to contribute to a project like that.

Unless something has changed, the Downloads forum only appears to users with a certain number of posts. I can't remember the number, though.

Once you reach 50 posts, you'll be able to access the Downloads section of the website, which is where the threads in question are located. The quickest way to get to 50 posts is to use the post burning thread.

Any suggestions how to find the post burning thread?  I did a search but nothing came up.

Thank you for everyone's responses. Until I can download, I just bit the bullet & download the Real Player to stream episodes while I do stuff around the house at the night. Thanks again.

Was going to link to it, but I see you've discovered it.

Thanks erg79.
Someone just posted that it is under the New People section, but now that post is gone(?), so thanks to that mystery person as well.

Is the internet connection to blame if it keeps ending the stream after a few minutes? I have been trying to capture streams with VLC and I am having the same problem, and last I knew my internet connection was pretty decent.
