Title: Ghostbusters revamp
Post by: Nose on January 29, 2015, 10:30:31 PM
Hey guys, it's probably too early to talk about it, but I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the news about the Ghostbusters revamp. I've been waiting for Ghostbusters 3 for a good 25 years now. I like the idea of a female cast. I don't know about Paul Figg as the director though. Figg said in Rolling Stone ".. I want the technology to be even cooler. I want it to be really scary". For some reason, that gave me mixed feelings. Also, I did kind of hope that it was going to be a continuation and not a revamp.

I love Ghostbusters. I like Kristen Wiig. I hate Melissa Mccarthy. Bridesmaids was overrated. This will probably suck.

it will likely suck, but I'm still optimistic. If it DOES suck, it for sure won't be the cast's fault. You can't remaking something like Ghostbusters and satisfy anyone who loves the original.

We got Ghostbusters 3 already! It took me three weeks on Pro Mode to unlock the Are You a God trophy, though I still can't get the multiplayer ones because the PS3 network is always down.

But still.  I am really excited to see Leslie Jones as a Ghostbuster being aggressively realistic in unrealistic situations.  Sort of wonder if both her and Melissa McCarthy are too much of the same tone and will throw the group balance off, but I may not be keeping up enough.

I loved Bridesmaids though I thought everyone other than Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd were playing too straight.  Hoping this one has less gross out factor and doesn't try too hard to convince me it's going to be different this time because there are LADIES fighting ghosts.  At least one of them is secretly Ripley in Aliens right?  Please tell me Leslie Jones is Ripley.

It should be the same old Ghostbusters but with women so we have someone to cosplay at any size, shape, and color.  I almost settled for the couple of episodes of Janine putting on a proton pack during the cartoons of my youth, but it will be even better if the same group roles are covered of a socially indifferent physicist, gleefully naive paranormal historian, serial monogamist psychiatrist, and audience voice everyperson.
