I'm a half way through the first one & I love the different energy that unscreened calls from people who have no idea what just happened on the show to which they are calling in.
I'm so happy that Tom didn't hang up on the "Anonymous" caller but hung him out to dry. That was a thing of beauty. Loved the almost Wurster-esque list of substances in the call.
I hope it continues.

Is there anywhere to listen to this other than iTunes? I'm at work and can't listen to anything unless it's embedded and streamable :(

I disagree with Tom. The umms and errs of the Anonymous caller are pitch-perfect to what those guys actually sound like.
Can't wait for more!
-
How in the world did AP Mike pull YuGiOh out of thin air? That was awesome.
Was the last caller Suto from Florida that has called in to The Chris Gethard Show?
As the Maple Syrup Mussolini once said "Love it, love those guys."
-
"You know what power is, right?"
-
"Anonymous" call was great.
I'm only halfway through, and I'm already sold on the Half Hour of Power.
-
The anonymous call sounded a lot like Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus.
-
"Tom said?! I'M Tom! Tom's here!"
The weird Yu-Gi-Oh digression and the Anonymous caller were also golden. This show is hilarious, even more so that the whole Best Show crew is involved.
-
I loved Marcia/Sparkiepop asking if the fart machine caller took requests.
-
Registered just to express my joy for the new series. That was some funny stuff.
-
I loved the bed music for some reason, as well as the repeated mentions of "Dudio" and "Half Hour of Power." Every mention gave me the giggles.
Or something approaching said giggles.
-
I wish my Dad had guns.
-
Definitely a different vibe -- almost a cross between "on-air Tom" and "real-life Tom". That Anonymous call would have been dealt with swiftly and mercilessly live on air -- by pre-recording, Tom could engage him safe in the knowledge that he could always edit the call out if it went south, and it was all the funnier for it.
-
I like how you can kind of tell exactly when the Anonymous guy realized he wasn't going to get hung up on and had to keep going.
-

I love how he ran out of drugs he could name after two, then he was just like uh...uppers...uh... downers....
-
Anonymous. Give 'em enough rope...
Fewer things are funnier than a deep, mechanical, and menacing voice going "Uhm"
-
Anonymous was in on the joke, he just wasn't well-prepared... and thank god he didn't prepare.

It's not out yet, but I'm guessing this week's HHOP is going to be as great if not greater than last week's. I'll admit I did call in Tues night and throw out a quick dumb question, and the Best Show team turned the question into pure comedy gold. If that was the pattern for every call, do NOT miss this Friday's drop!
-
The first episode was hilarious, I would imagine this week's would be just as much of a blast. I thought about calling in last night, but I got nervous about overstaying my welcome.
-
What caller were you, Mackro?
-
good stuff, this half hour of poewr. The extra studio people were kind of distracting though
-
What caller were you, Mackro?
I called about a certain trailer. (were you in the studio last night?!)
I think my introduction must have suffered bad reception or my mumbling because Tom called me "caller" at the end.

Oh , you called YESTERDAY - looking forward to hearing it. I'm the one who called about Adam Ant. I was really nervous, so gonna skip past that one on Friday...

Kudos for rolling with the name.
-
As a guy saddled with a horrible nickname for most of my life, it is awesome to be in on the joke for once. It was too funny to pass up.

I thought it might be Geoffreton, Esq. In any case, I enjoyed your call.
-
I really appreciate that, man.
-
Wake up Wednesday= new Best Show
Wake up Friday= MORE new Best Show!
Life is good.

Finally get around to listening to this. Great.
Does anyone else love all of the off-mic laughter/background noise/et al as much as I do? (Also what is that barely audible echo-y thing I hear that is like coiled springs being shaken/rattled? The controls on the soundboard? Moving/adjusting the mic(s)? Whatever it is: I like it.)

I've heard Thurston Moore twang the mic springs on the radio, before. Maybe, Tom did too, then recorded it and now uses it as bed music.
-
Thoroughly enjoyed Mike's story. Seems like a lot of the callers this week weren't on board with the format as last week, not as many good calls as then.

Mike's Massa's story was perfect. Oh, to be a fly on the wall that day...
Long live HHOP.
-
Loved this week's episode. The lack of sympathy for rambling callers = A+
-
How do you guys feel about smokestacks?
-
The Pillar (the CSN guy) saying "I'm going to be quick..." more than once then taking the scenic route to his boring story that had nothing to do with the topic from the Best Show proper (embarassing moments): "He was this show's 'pillar'".
Then the H-Man not getting the concept of Half-Hour of Power: "I'm just calling in to say hello and figgered this was the best time to...", "Uh, no this is the worst time. Goodbye.[gomp]"
I'm pro whatever the smokestack caller is against and vice versa.
-
Oh my fave Casino scenes are when De Niro calls Joe Bob Briggs a dummy. That and yelling at the casino chef about blueberries per muffin ratio.

It's kinda hard and stressful...being quick and to the point, yet giving Tom enough breathing room to be the "master painter" and all. I know I didn't do such a great job. it was kind of hard to hear Tom too, but that might have just been my cell phone.
-
Oh, Sam from Mississippi
That guy was a snooze.
-

I'll pull up a stool. I gotta make my bones like No Blow Back Mike.
-
I really love the HHOP and I hope it's a fixture. I especially like how Tom doesn't allow Best Show topics. It's its own thing.
-
Tom's quick trigger finger was amazing this time around. I also wish I could wear a turtleneck.
-
The whole Mike K call, and various reactions. It went pretty much as you'd expect on the HHOP.
Mike: "But Tom, Wait..."
Tom: "You don't tell me to wait! Good bye."
Terre: "OH NOOOOO!"
-
I wonder who bought David Crosby's cape?

-
Two-Toed Tommy
-
Also it warms my heart that Tom and Terre are looking at getting another dog, I think it will really help. My dog hasn't fixed all of my problems, but I do find it hard to be really laid low by recurring depression for very long because of him and my cat.

"Whoop-de-Damn-Do" I had to go back and listen to that about three times before I could finish the episode.
-
My current fur-covered life partner joined us at the tail end of a series of family deaths that had left me reeling -- the little dude definitely helped. I recommend sweet, smart, and slightly nuts, but since Tom's into Pitties, that's what he'll end up with anyway.
-
REALLY enjoying the Half Hour of Power episodes. I think sometimes my favorite part is just hearing Jason or Pat laughing heartily off-mic at something Tom says. And Mike's interludes/etc are great. Love it.
-
Love the bonus HHOP episodes as well! Awesome addition to the Best Show brand!
-
It's really great to hear the rest of the crew on the mics. Friday downloads are great too because that makes the wait until Tuesday a little easier.
-
Mike's story about his ex-brother-in-law putting beers in his pocket killed me. A cousin of mine does that and it just boggles my mind.
-
The call about the band names was magical.
-
Julie stating up front that she was going to hate all of them was just the best.
-
Julie stating up front that she was going to hate all of them was just the best.
they were all genuinely terrible though. It reminded me of that scene in Freaks and Geeks when Lindsey has a list of really bad band names for Nick's band. I was half expecting to hear him say "Anarchy's Child"
-
"Crotch Rod"
-
It was "Crotch Rot."
-
"Crotch Rot" sounds like a band that would be on Mutha Records back in the day.
-
I can't remember if it was Julie who said this, but "Foot powder" "Ugh" would be a good addition to the sound collage.

I know this is the opposite of what I was supposed to get out of Tom's story, but I wanna try renting a karaoke room for myself just once.
-
The more I think about it, the more I think renting a karoake room by yourself is the perfect preparation for the logical next step of a sensory deprivation tank.
Let's do it, Tom!
-
Yeah, the solo karaoke room sounds like a dream to me. Also, Mike, how long was that opening act? I need to know how long he tried to win over the crowd.
-
A half hour or longer. Whatever his normal set would have been. It wasn't a matter of him thinking he could win over the crowd. It was more a matter of him not allowing the audience to boo him off the stage.
-
Brunch Wolf! :)
Civil War Reenactments On Mushrooms While Listening to Tago Mago! :) :)
-
That would just be a stress test gone horribly awry.
-
This last one was great. I laughed so hard at the stuff about Mike's teed up news events that my stomach hurt.
-
"I'm not making this up, Tom"
Love the Bouncy House/Staten Island Mall woman on a leash stories Mike brought up.
-

Tom should have a 10 minute segment on the main show where Mike brings in his cutting edge news items and also rumination a such as the mature MILF/young Granny topic

Yeah I was sort of waiting for it! It's OK, though

I would have given props if I remembered where I first saw it. I can't remember stuff like that. I'm a sponge. Stuff is coming in at all angles.

Does it come out at all angles as well?

Of course!

Tom, Dudio, Mike.....the song is called "Sadeness" by the German group Enigma. All the lyrics are in Latin and French:
"Procedamus in pace
In nomine Christi, Amen Let us go forth in peace
In the name of Christ, So be it
Cum angelis et pueris,
fideles inveniamur We shall find the faithful in the
company of angels and children
Attollite portas, principes, vestras
et elevamini, portae aeternales
et introibit rex gloriae
Qius est iste Rex glorie? Lift up ye heads o ye glorious gates,
and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors,
and the king of glory shall come in.
Who is the king of glory?
Sade, dis-moi,
Sade, donnes-moi Sade tell me
Sade give me
Procedamus in pace
In nomine Christi, Amen
Shall we proceed in peace
In the name of Christ, Amen
Sade, dis-moi
Qu'est-ce que tu vas chercher?
le Bien par le Mal
la Vertu par le Vice
Sade, dis-moi, Pourquoi l'evangile du Mal?
Quelle est ta religion, Ou sont tes fideles?
Si tu es contre Dieu, tu es contre l'Homme
Sade tell me
what is it that you seek?
The rightness of wrong
The virtue of vice
Sade tell me why the Gospel of evil ?
What is your religion? Where are your faithful?
If you are against God, you are against man
Sade dit moi pourquoi le sang pour le plaisir ?
Le plaisir sans l'amour.
N'y a t'il plus de sentiment dans le culte de l'homme ?
Sade tell me why blood for pleasure?
Pleasure without love?
Is there no longer any feeling in man's Faith?
Sade, es-tu diabolique ou divin? Sade are you diabolical or divine?
Sade, dis-moi
Hosanna
Sade, donnes-moi
Hosanna
Sade, dis-moi
Hosanna
Sade, donnes-moi
Hosanna Sade tell me
Hosanna
Sade give me
Hosanna
Sade tell me
Hosanna
Sade give me
Hosanna
In nomine Christi, Amen In the name of Christ, Amen"
That is supposed to be either the Marquis de Sade talking to himself, or a monk doing the questioning.
-
I kept waiting for Tom to hang up on the Beach Boys guy with that woman talking in the background.
-
The Best Show has developed an appreciation for prog-rock that I've yet to join. I recently bought a copy of Yes' Fragile from the dollar bin of my local used record store. Other than the two songs I already knew and liked ("Roundabout" and "Long Distance Runaround"), I could barely make it through the album once. On the other hand, I also gave Drama another try - the one Yes album I used to own - and it actually sounds pretty good. Maybe I need to try again.
-
I find that being very drunk helps make the prog rock go down easier if you're not already inclined towards enjoying it, I listened to like three Rush albums one night and enjoyed them because I had been hitting the sauce since early that afternoon.

I had a similar experience once while camping. It didn't stick, though.
-
Was there a HHOP on October 20th?
-
Yes.
-
From the Boston guy's call, I never heard the song as "apples and tomatoes," but Apples and Bananas instead:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apples_and_Bananas
-
HHOP needs more weirdo calls. I'd love to see people do the "Hang up the Phone" prank on Tom. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shuyUCJTRSM) I know he would not tolerate any nonsense, but it would be interesting to see somebody try.
-
That was quite the creepy laugh on that guy.
-
Hope that toiletmouth film student calls up again. I find him invigorating, as I'm sure does AP Mike.

There you go.
Mike's story about the guy and the "X-rated bundle" was a highlight of all of the episodes so far.
