Title: Favorite Moment of the New Best Show Era
Post by: buffcoat on February 23, 2015, 07:36:15 PM
Quick, what's your favorite moment of the new Best Show Era?

Mine is Tom imitating Steve Austin: "Get up mah hill! You gotta get up mah hill!"

Off the top of my head, the ending of this latest Wurster call. His "yessssssssssss" equally terrified and destroyed me.

I enjoyed Tom's explaining of Mudhoney's history to Mark the Arm Rample. It was one of those moments where Tom goes on a tangent unrelated to the call's original point. It's usually Wurster that does that.

Yes, I like anything where Tom gets to be the wacky one. It emphasizes the skill it takes to remain in character as the straight-man.

I just thought of like 10 things from calls and from bits. "Pant faucet" has kinda stayed with me though.

The goofing on the sports talk show host (forgotten the name) not knowing who the Foo Fighters were and the way he said their name on his show.

Faceless Man and "Worn" - loved the saga about the mystery unnamed song at first and then actually hearing the song...

The two car horns thing. It is so dumb, but, it is killing me.

It's all been great, but I thought when Tim H. said "They think theyre tough shit" and then there was a beat, where Tim H got away with it, and Tom allowed it.  That was really funny.  I figured id just click on a random point in a recent episode and I'd find something great - the malapropism "mook poink" for "moot point".

I'm lovin' all these mis-remembered and inappropriately aggressive Beegees tunes.

The two horns thing.
The dropping the wallet in dog food thing.
The "Neither here, Nora there" thing, and also the "Been here, Nora Dunn that" thing
The every time Jon sings a Bee Gees song you can hear Tom trying to contain his laughter thing.

The show has been on fire

Agreed! The show has been operating at a very high level, especially under the circumstances. And can I get a what-what for the HALF HOUR OF POWER!??!?! What a great idea, so much fun to hear unscreened calls and Tom & Co. "off the cuff". LOVE IT!
