Divine will, or maybe Fate, ALMOST made up for missing last night's Chicago show via today's delivery of the box set!!
Trying to post a pic right now.
I got #203
-
hmm...my order status says - Shipped on 2015-03-11 - and I got the email saying I made the cut off, but when I check the tracking all I see is "Shipping labels created". Anyone else see the same? Not panicing yet...

Yeah, same thing here, it's been "Shipping label created" for me since last Thursday or Friday. I'm not sweating it, I'll get it when I get it.
-
The truck with the CDs broke down en route to Chicago. The discs arrived on Wednesday and the Numero Group elves are hurriedly putting the sets together and shipping them. They pre-printed the shipping labels to speed up the process.
-
yeah, I was just confused with the "shipped" notification and all. Not sweating it either, but since I'm getting it shipped to the huge multi-office building I work in, I keep an out out for stuff so it doesn't end up somewhere else.
-
Am I the only one that got it?
Maybe cuz I'm in Chicago?
-
Mine came today and I'm told I looked more excited than I've ever looked about the mail.
-
JUST GOT THIS
I don't have time to open it and explore before work, but the CONSOLIDATED CARDBOARD shipping tape made my heart nearly burst with happiness.
-
I'm in Chicago but have yet to receive mine.
Here is an unboxing video. It appears to be quite an impressive package.

The Jon Solomon appearance explained where the track "Jay and Paul in the Studio" comes from - it's Jon Wurster's first appearance on Tom's pre-Best Show show. He and another one of Tom's friends play two guys who won a contest to appear on the show.
-
Mine's finally on its way! Somewhere in Des Moines, hopefully coming to S.F. next...
-
Wow, got mine today. This is the gold standard of boxsets. If you don't have this, for the love of God order it now!
-
This is the most incredible thing I've ever received in the mail.

This thing is seriously beautiful. $100+shipping is a SERIOUS bargain. My wife bought it for me for Christmas, and as we were going through it today I was suddenly panicked that she spent way too much money on a gift for me. I couldn't believe her when she told me it was merely $100. I will gladly over-pay for whatever cool Scharpling+Wurster product comes out after this.
-
My exact thoughts. I own about 50 boxsets of at least 4xCDs and not only was this a steal at 16xCD and $100, but it's by far the nicest one I own. I'm hoping someone's making money on this. My brother-in-law, who's a new fan of the show and went with me to the Chicago show, said he's buying the box when it's available in May.
-
Jesus! That is a thing of utter beauty!
Why must i live outside of the US? Anyone here ordered from the UK or elsewhere? Any feedback before i try ordering it? I don't want to be stumped with ridiculous handling fees, but i got to have it.

203 is the catalogue number as in NUM203.

Mine is waiting for me on my stoop!
-
Anyone still have their tracking still on "Shipping Label Created"? Mine's been like that since the 17th and I wasn't sure if that was because I'm in Canada or the initial delay. Just wanted to check to make sure I'm not the only one who's hasn't progressed.
-
Mine still says "Shipping Label Created," too, and I'm in New Jersey.
-
I'm in NYC and mine arrived at work yesterday (but I'm on vacation!)
-
The Fogelnest interview with S&W is top-notch stuff.

Still shipping out box sets that had shipping labels printed 10 days ago...
Good God.
-
This is most certainly the very coolest thing I think I have ever purchased.
I even cut out a strip of the Consolidated Cardboard packing tape used to seal the box set packaging. To save it, you know.
-
I'm still only on "Shipping Label Created". I was afraid this would happen--they pass right by me in LA, and then the wait to get it sent back!
-
I checked today. My shipping says label created on March 12th. I'm sure it will arrive soon. From what it sounded like in the email Numero it's a massive undertaking getting these out. My only question to you FOTs is this. Should I make my own unboxing video when it arrives?

Why do you feel you need our input to make a video of you unpacking something? Just do it or don't. Maybe the question you mean to ask is whether you should put it up somewhere if you make one and if so, again, why do you need our input for such a thing?
My box's status has been "Not shipped yet" for going on two weeks now. I've grown fond of that vague daily reminder that my box is in some quantum state of existing but not existing.
-
This box is ridiculous. Easily the best box I own. I'm simply in awe.
Listening to the bonus mp3s. That 500th show is a thing of beauty.
-
I got mine too...leaving it shrinkwrapped until I get home. Just as an object so far, completely top notch production and design on the box itself. Can't wait!!
-
Mine now says "out for delivery"! so I'll have gotten the Beefheart box set and the Best Show box set on the same day! ;D
-
I'm still sitting at "Shipping Labels Created." I was hoping to have it in time for the road trip I'm taking tomorrow, but hopefully it'll be waiting when I return.

Me too.
I paid extra to have it shipped via Priority Mail though, so I'm hoping it's here by the weekend.
-
This is so awesome. So many great little details. I think I have to order another one because I don't even want to touch this thing. I can't bring myself to open the package with the downloads. Oh well, here I go.
-
That Radio Hut C360 rules so much -not just cause of the reference, but it was so quick to throw everything onto my work computer and android phone...I remember when I got the Harry Nilsson box set, it took HOURS it seemed like to rip all the CDs.
Thanks Tom and Jon!!
Anyone else think this set was CHEAP for what you get?? I wish Numero did the Dinosaur Jr Book...300 bucks I just can't do.

Myra Loy, are you on twitter?
-
Why do you feel you need our input to make a video of you unpacking something? Just do it or don't. Maybe the question you mean to ask is whether you should put it up somewhere if you make one and if so, again, why do you need our input for such a thing?
Well as a group of friends. It's nice to ask other friends of their opinions. I was just curious if people here wanted to see another. Thanks though. A simple no would suffice. Well when it gets here I'll make sure to make one. From the videos I've seen they look amazing!
I didn't mean to imply yes or no. Just that if you feel you should do it, do it. This is a special, once in a lifetime thing and it probably should be documented in some way. You don't need our input for that. This video opening project is about you, not us or how we feel about it. If you make it interesting, sure I'll check it out. If you are opening a box and describing what is in it, I'll likely pass because I'll be doing the same thing with the same box of stuff soon, though not recording it.
As for Twitter, it's almost like having telepathy in a crowded room and not wanting it and not being able to turn it off. Plus, I don't have an ego compatable with Twitter.

Here's an update from Numero Group on the shipping of the box:

Rhelly--Yes, some mistakes were made. There should have been a "JW" in front of that paragraph. I said that, not Tom. Also, I made a typo that was not caught by the proofreader. The mammoth undertaking of putting the book together was done during a month-long Bob Mould tour where I was writing and proofing while riding in a car to the next city or sitting in a dressing room while the opening band was blasting away on the other side of the wall. Tom was swamped with his jobs, too. We tried our best.

You are still the best. Thank you both for everything you do.
-
It not being perfectly proofread just adds to its charm. The massive amount of information, plus the massive undertaking Tom and Jon underwent to get all together means that I cannot begin to even contemplate nitpicking the proofreading.

Off-topic, but what app are you using for that now playing lockscreen?
-
Android Galaxy S5. I downloaded Nova Launcher for my home screen functions, but that now playing lock-screen -I'm pretty sure- is the default in Android now.

Holy cow!
That said, Jon, I have to take you to task for another thing... OH NO, I DROPPED MY COCO-NUT WATER!"

Exactly.

Can anyone weigh the set, still in the shipping box with CC tape, for me? Trying to work out a less expensive way to get one to the UK since from Numero it's almost as much as the set itself.
-
Mine is waiting for me on my front porch, I hope my mommy doesn't sit it on top of the refrigerator and not let me have it right away
-
Noice first post, Jon. But you're gonna need to post more often than that to unlock the "secret" sections of this forum. But I guess that's neither here Nora there.
Thank you.
:)

So USPS showing a "Shipping Label Created" on March 25 at 3:30 p.m. thing doesn't mean I should be looking for it by 3:30 today via 2 day Priority Mail delivery, right?

The status on mine stayed at "Shipping label created" for several days before it actually shipped. Not sure if that'll be the case for subsequent batches though...

My shipping label was created on March 12th and it still hasn't shipped, so I wouldn't stand by the mailbox just yet.

I see. Thanks, that's a relief of sorts
-
I would just like everyone here to know that my box had been at the dreaded "shipping label created" stage since March 17. As of yesterday, it's moving and should be here on Monday. I am super excited. Numero Group is such an amazing label. This pairing of my favorite label with my favorite comedy duo couldn't make me happier.
Someone should write a song about how waiting is hard.
-
Someone tell us about what's on the cassette downloads--can't bring myself to unwrap it!
-
Also, I'd love to know what were the 3-5 S&W calls were that just barely didn't make the cut...

Wow. It's been years since I've had to track something through USPS. Is that how it is now? I seem to recall not waiting three weeks after seeing that status appear. I'm not complaining, just trying to get my head around what things actually mean on that site.
-
I got "shipping label created" on 3/12 and as of today my box is moving, so don't give up hope!
-

Thanks! After hearing all of this, I am puttting April 14 in my head as my tentative date and getting back to my stupid life.
-
Mine is in "Forest Park, Illinois," which I believe is some sort of fontasy town. Who would put a park in a forest with all those bears?
-
Mine arrived today. Needless to say, I'm impressed. I think you guys will be too.
-
I like how mine went to Forest Park, Illinois, only to go back to Chicago to be shipped through O'Hare. The ways of the mail system... but those heroes of the brown satchel did get it to O'Hare, so, oh boy, it's really happening!
-
I like that Forest Park - kind've - sounds like where the Ramones are from.
My box is there as of this morning.
-
Mine arrived today. Needless to say, I'm impressed. I think you guys will be too.
Same here. I still can't believe how massive it is. It's almost daunting to imagine how much material is right here.
-
I love this box set so much. The thought and craft and care that went into this thing is evident from the Consolidated Cardboard tape on the box. The book is beautiful. I love the Joe Matt artwork of Tom (can he do an American Splendor type comic with Tom? Please?). So many fun details in the call write ups and interview (I'm with Jon, btw. If someone asked me if Rhoda Zeigler ever called, I would have emphatically said no too!).
Tom, Jon, and Numero Group, thank you for putting together this amazing box and for the years of comedy you've blessed us with!
-
Got mine yesterday! It really is an impressive set. Even for Numero Group--who's stuff is always beautiful--this is really special. And I love the Radio Hut cassette/USB drive.
-
My expected delivery date was April 2nd but it came in today!
I've barely skimmed the surface of the content here and I'm almost overwhelmed with how incredible this thing is. This is the densest box set I have ever seen. It's just cool stuff piled on top of cool stuff wrapped up in a beautiful package. A fitting tribute to the Best Show!
-
Are there no air dates in the box? Not criticizing!
-
they're in the
show notes "notes on the calls" section of the book.
-
Got mine today. This is the greatest thing I've ever bought. And such a deal. Its HEAVY. I knew it would be great but it exceeded my expectations. Haven't even seen what's on the USB yet, I'm just staring at it in awe. AMAZING
-
Got mine today! Went back to the Mac vs. Jimmy Crespo call ... so great. Mac would have to be an adult now, or close to it. Is Mac on here? Anybody know what's up with that kid Mac?
-
Now mine is in the equally fictitious-sounding Warrendale, PA. So it has moved almost all it has to east but only a tiny bit south.
-
Now mine is in the equally fictitious-sounding Warrendale, PA. So it has moved almost all it has to east but only a tiny bit south.
Warrendale is a real place. In fact, it's not too far away from where I live, in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.
-
Still in the shipping label stage (created March 25) but I didn't place my order until about then so I'm not too worried. I'm so happy to hear that the Mac vs. Crespo call is on there.
Is there any stuff on there that isn't Wurster calls? (e.g. Toms Gary
Puckett rant, calls from real-life weirdos, etc.?
I find it pretty appropriate that Joe Matt did artwork for the set because Joe Matt is almost like a living Wurster character. Like a friend of mine once said "I love Joe Matt. It would be cool to meet him but I'd just hope he didn't want to shake hands."

Yeah, that is where mine has been stuck as well, though I ordered mine in early January. What's killing me is that Chicago is an hour away from me. It's been sitting an hour away for me for at least nine days now.
-
Just as I posted the above, I got this from USPS: "Based on the tracking information, the Postal Service has not physically received the package. The tracking information shows the shipper's intend on dropping some items by creating an on line label, but there was no actual acceptance of this shipment at a Postal Facility. Please contact the shipper regarding this new information and ask them if they even shipped your item. "
on March 31, this showed up in my inbox from Numero: "All Best Show orders have now been dropped at the central downtown Postal building as of yesterday morning. Things should start showing up."
Fun!
-
Is there any stuff on there that isn't Wurster calls? (e.g. Toms Gary Puckett rant, calls from real-life weirdos, etc.?
There is at least one call from Tom to Terre T.'s show. It's called "The 80s Are Back."
-
I got my first update today... my package followed Buffcoat's to Forrest Park, IL!
-
I got the box today! It is really amazing as you may have guessed!
-
Need to do a little surgery on my HutPod cassette/USB drive. The actual drive (could you call it a 'device'?) came out of its plastic casing. Still thinking about buying a second copy so I can have one USB drive in the car, and one in the house.
Sorry for those who have not got theirs but I promise it will be worth every penny.
-
Arrived today. 100% amazing.
-
Anybody in Canada receive the box yet?
-
Arrived today.
Let me say that I love craftsmanship, not in the hipster chocolate or the handcrafted Starbucks beverage sense, but in the "this is our big thing, we're going to do it right" sense. This box has that in every single part of it. The audacity of a $100 16-CD box set alone says that.
I read a good bit of the book, which is really cool.
Perhaps the most cool thing for me so far is that I'm finally going to hear the last 10 minutes of the Conventions, Inc., call. That's worth a lot of the purchase price on its own.
-
Mine is supposed to arrive on Monday, but that's estimated. Unfortunately, our post office likes to leave large packages in front of our door for anyone walking by to take, so I had to pay for a Package Intercept to keep it at the post office for me to pick up -- and their hours are exactly my working hours. I hope to get it on Friday, which will be the month anniversary of the Numero Group shipping label being created.
I wish Congress didn't defund USPS so much...
I'll get this box eventually.
-
Mine came on Friday. My kids were very intrigued by the awesome cover artwork.
-
Well mine arrived Thursday. I had to leave it packed being that we moved Friday. It was hard to resist opening it but I figured I had been waiting since last October. I could wait three more days. So as it happens sometimes, I had no help Friday morning and my fiance was at work. While moving the furniture solo was rough I was able to keep a vigilante eye on the box. It rode with me up front in the uhaul. So after a weekend of consolidating cardboard, egg painting and unpacking. This morning I finally opened it. I wanted it to be one of the last boxes I opened. I wanted to earn it. So only after getting the living room, kitchen and little boys room unpacked did I let myself open the box. It was glorious. The box is immaculate. Thank you Tom and Jon. It was worth the wait.
-
Can anyone weigh the set, still in the shipping box with CC tape, for me? Trying to work out a less expensive way to get one to the UK since from Numero it's almost as much as the set itself.
9 pounds +/-
-
My ladyfriend and I were about to leave to go visit her father and were going to be gone most of the day. I knew from tracking that my package was out for delivery. I had already gotten my paper mail in the mailbox and figured the mailman was doing packages last. Luckily his truck was parked a couple houses down from me and I saw him returning to it. I went out to him and got my package. Oh happy day! I played Barry Dworkin for my ladyfriend on the car trip and she loved it.
-
Got my box yesterday! I simply cannot believe they only charged me $100 for this. What a beautiful package!
-
Did everyone that preordered this get thanked in the back of the book? That's the only reason I can think of why my name is back there, if it even is me.
-
Not a complaint about anything that Numero or USPS have done, but, according to the tracking page, my order has been sat in UK Customs Clearance since 1:28pm on March 31.
I'd like to think there's a Customs officer who opened it up to check for drugs and has spent a week listening to as many of the discs as possible.
-
Got mine yesterday and it is awesome.
I wanted to share the inspiration for the USB drive design:

Bless Numero Group and S&W for getting the box ready for delivery this past Monday for me. It's quite a miracle after hearing the back story that I was able to get it as soon as I could.
Sadly, I have the Worst Post Office In The World... the postal worker for my neighborhood leaves packages on the front door without asking, which has made our block a magnet for thieves.. and the hours of my post office are 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday... since I work 9-5am, and the line on Saturday is huge, this means i have to get up early on Saturday as my only chance to get any special packages. This is a picture of my post office by the way. no joke - it's the Ballard Carrier Annex in Seattle:
Despite the premises, I look forward to getting my box Saturday morning!

If they're anything like Dutch customs you can expect another week and a nice sizable surcharge upon delivery.

The box was the first time I've ever heard Conventions, Inc. and I love Jon's energy in it, is this the one he said he shotgunned a beer before doing?
-

Finally got it after tracking the slow, slow accent from Chicago to Toronto via the entire north east United States. All I can say is that it is the most amazing thing, greater than I could have ever imagined. Thanks Tom, Jon and Numero Group!
-
The box was the first time I've ever heard Conventions, Inc. and I love Jon's energy in it, is this the one he said he shotgunned a beer before doing?
3 beers! Back before the great undrinking.

Well if there's any way for him to do a character with that kind of energy again without drinking, I'm all for it

Or not. It turned out to be only 22 euros. Which is no money at all for this beauty.

I received my box this past Saturday! The best boxset show that could be imagined. Although it only came with one horn.
Wah-Waaaaahhhhhhhh
No, but seriously, it didn't have any horns.

My parcel is in the UK, my nearest depot in fact!
Sadly, Parcelforce put it on top of the refrigerator where I can't reach it, and need to pay up. That is, if the website wouldn't have an error every time I put my card details in.
EDIT: It is in my house and I have managed to open it and everything. My favourite bit is the Shout! Network listings page.
-
Received mine. Immediately set aside some time to appreciate the packaging, then read the hardcover, and then finally delved into the USB stick for bonus content.
A road trip planned, so the CDs will come in handy then.
It's everything I hoped it would be and more...
-
I finally got mine this morning, and yeah.. what everyone one said. The hardcover book is stunning as liner notes.. the term "liner notes" seems kinda insulting actually! One day, I will go through the whole audio of the box set, as well as all the Stereolaffs material that didn't make it on the box set, all the odd WFMU premium material and other odds and ends, and compile one giant playlist. This is a massive, beautiful beautiful thing.
-
I am writing down the classic lines as I go through the box--I had heard these first time around but so brilliant. Matthew Tompkins from Shout! Factory to Tom: "A perceived slight in your head is like a pen in Shakespeare's hand"
-
Oh yeah, the call Big Bill/Little Bill is unbelievably brilliant...right up there with the mayoral debate in terms of virtuoso Wurster
-
Oh yeah, the call Big Bill/Little Bill is unbelievably brilliant...right up there with the mayoral debate in terms of virtuoso Wurster
That's one of the greatest ever.
-
Yeah, the Big Bill/Little Bill call might actually be my favorite Wurster call of all time.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the USB stuff yet. In the mayubinitorial debate, does it have the part where Barry Dworkin sings the Newbridge National Anthem that is to the tune of The Cars "Just What I Needed"?

It does indeed! I haven't listened to the whole track yet but I had to check and make sure that in particular was left intact.
I've had my copy for over a week now and I've already gone through all 16 discs. Fantastic selections all around. I loved hearing some of the never before heard, pre-Best Show material.

Has anyone experienced anything like the following meltdown discussed in an Amazon review?
"The flash drive in my box SELF-DESTRUCTED within minutes. First, the jack came loose and was very hard to insert in the computer. Then, the drive heated up and literally melted its plastic jacket. I assume it's dead now. While it was running at first, I tried to copy the content to my computer. No way they would allow that. The files were accessible only through a "Best Show" driver, which only allows you to view/listen to the material, not store it on your hard drive. So, the flash drive would have had to hold up physically more than five minutes, which it didn't. So, what to do? Return the whole thing because of the weakest link, which is just a copy of the content anyway? The next one they send will probably have the same problem. So, I guess I'm just stuck with the dissatisfaction and hope that the CDs make up for it. But I'll say this much: At $109 for a box set of a comedy duo I've never heard of, I took a big risk buying this. Did I mention I usually don't like box sets? Well. this is pretty shoddy considering that kind of price. They could have invested just a few pennies more to give us functional media instead of joke flash drive that burns up as soon as you use it."
-
I was able to copy everything from the flash drive to my computer with no problem.

This is two guys talking on the phone for hours.

This is where I stopped reading that review.

Which meltdown? The drive, or the reviewer?

I got a bad usb drive and the files were not accessible on it. I emailed numero group and they got back to me quickly, said that others had experienced similar issues, and shipped me out a new one asap. I didn't experience anything like the amazon reviewer though.
-
Mine was fine. I presume that that reviewer was some sort of Newbridge villain.
The money is good for the producers of the work, I guess, but i have to ask: who buys a $109 box set of comedy calls from someone they've never heard of? Especially someone who "hates box sets"?
-
Alright folks, I got a live one--someone at my work asked me about Best Show. What one or two calls off the box would you suggest I give her?

Someone from Numero responded to the review about the melted USB and offered a replacement USB and a direct download link. Mr. James C. Erskine has issued his response:
"I don't know why my name should be funny [a previous commenter expressed amusement that this guy was named "James," obviously a reference lost on Jim Erskine]. And besides it's only my legal name, I go by a nickname. I don't know how you guys can think that it is "bonkers" or how you can be so sure that I would be the "one and only person" that this is going to befall. As far as I know, this item just went on the market. Sure, you guys appear to be big fans and love this act. But I'm sure you wouldn't be saying that if you were in my shoes and got a defective product from a group that you were exploring for the first time and paid a high price to sample. I decided to buy this because I was intrigued by the box idea, and that was not realized in my case. But now I have returned it for a refund. Maybe I'll revisit the idea in a year and my situation has proven to be a complete outlier. Till then, have fun with box sets and if you like these guys try listening to the Firesign Theatre. I have all their albums and more and think they're great doing radio sketches and parodies."

Let's see how similar the two groups are. Can you imagine *this* alternate history?
In September 2008, SCHARPLING & WURSTER performed an adaptation of Jorge Luis Borges' short story "La Muerte y La Brujula" ("Death and the Compass") on WFAN.
In 1999, SCHARPLING & WURSTER created a number of improvised television commercials for Jack Poet Volkswagen in Highland Park, California, with the characters of Roydon Ziegler (Wurster), Jack from Pittsburgh (Scharpling), Bob Chicken (Phil Austin), and Timothy von Trimble (Wurster).
In 2002 and 2004, Straight Arrow Press, Rolling Stone's book publishing arm, published two books authored by SCHARPLING & WURSTER. These books, SCHARPLING & WURSTER's Big Book Of Plays and The SCHARPLING & WURSTER Big Mystery Joke Book, feature background information, satirical introductions and parodic histories, as well as transcripts from their first seven albums. Apocalypse Papers, also authored by the group and published by a small press, was limited to an edition of only 500 copies.
In 1997 Mattel released two Intellivision video games with Intellivoice: Bomb Squad, with TOM SCHARPLING as the voice of Frank and JON WURSTER as the voice of Boris; and B-17 Bomber, with Phil Austin as the Bombardier.
In 1996, JON WURSTER began placing radio-show-like comedy sound bites on his own Internet-based comedy radio station, www.thatjonnywursterkid.net (http://www.thatjonnywursterkid.net). "The show will be the Internet's funny bone," WURSTER said.
In 1996, a computer game written by TOM SCHARPLING, Pyst, a parody of the game Myst, was released by Parroty Interactive.
That guy was right. Rereading these, I can no longer tell these comedy troupes apart.
"The FOTs outside looked from SCHARPLING & WURSTER to The Fireside Theatre, and from The Fireside Theatre to SCHARPLING & WURSTER, and from SCHARPLING & WURSTER to The Fireside Theatre again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

I've been going through the USB today. Can anyone confirm that Augie Richards' Batter Butler call(s) are NOT included? I know there were tons of hard choices to make but thought for sure those would be included. One of my all time favorites http://johnnyhugel.com/post/224340335/the-batter-butler-url-the-best-show-on-wfmu (http://johnnyhugel.com/post/224340335/the-batter-butler-url-the-best-show-on-wfmu)
Loving the box set btw, incredible effort that totally delivers.
-
The only bonus tracks on the USB are Conventions Inc., Bruce Willis, the Mayubinatorial Debate, Merge Roundtable and Tom from the Future (from the 500th show).
The Numero Group page has the entire track listing, btw: http://www.numerogroup.com/products/scharpling-wurster-the-best-of-the-best-show (http://www.numerogroup.com/products/scharpling-wurster-the-best-of-the-best-show)

Alright folks, I got a live one--someone at my work asked me about Best Show. What one or two calls off the box would you suggest I give her?
Unequivocally the first (in my esteemed opinion) call from the box is the Gene Ted and Carl track.
Second, and going off script a bit, is the "Tom's nephew Caesar calls" from the Best Show archives (12/7/10). Unbelievable. Easily one of the funniest things I have ever heard, hands down.

thank you, biggins!
-
guys, how many of the calls were unaired?
-
I wanna say about two. There's a cute bit that was recorded in 2005 ("The Pastor's Audio") and the previously released "Zachary Brimstead on Newbridge Now" (from the 2007 WFMU premium).
There's also three tracks that, while they did go out over the air, were previously unknown to pretty much anybody and pre-date The Best Show ("NY vs. Chicago", "The 80s Are Back", "Jay and Paul in the Studio").

The above is correct!

I finally picked up the box yesterday and I'm tearing through it today while I write. Its so fantastic and the production on the contents alone was worth the price of admission.
-
I got the box a couple of days ago, and it is glorious. I was raving about it at trivia the other night, and my wife said, "As someone who wasn't nearly as excited about the box set as Robert was, I have to admit it's pretty impressive." Now there's a testimonial!
