I'm going through a stretch of not being able to stand performance: I'm just so hyperaware of the artificiality of it all that I can't enjoy it. This made me less tolerant of Ms. Winehouse than I might otherwise be. As it is, that clip made me want to strike her. And does she always enunciate so poorly? Or only when she's that stoned? If she sounds that way all the time, I'm clearly far too much of an old fart to appreciate her: I like to be able to understand at least a third of the words I'm hearing.
I need a smilie of a cane being shaken irascibly.

Compare and contrast.

Ah, so it was the drugs singing.

Par for the course.

I really enjoyed her album, but man what a trainwreck. also, that beehive is ridonculous.
-
Did she say he has cat AIDS? Okay, she can keep drinking, because that was hilarious.
-
Par for the course.
Jason
can you translate some of that 2nd clip into American English for me?
-
man what a trainwreck.
Trainwrecks are sad and strangely boring. Judging from his body language in the second of Jason's clips, Bill Bailey agrees with me.
-
You can keep Bill Bailey. I want Simon Amstell to be my gay boyfriend.
-
Par for the course.

Actually that was only the second coolest clip from that show. Jason find the clip of that douche he stomped off the stage, or even the wannabe punk rocker.
Found it

Wait, they made ANOTHER Spinal Tap album?

A: Michael Ian Black should sue the host.
B: Morrissey should sue Preston.
What's the matter, Britain? Afraid to follow in the Colonies' footsteps regarding outrageous lawsuits? For shame!

Isn't this the pop star that "hasn't got a willy" from that one episode of Father Ted?
-
I just watched the whole episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and found Ms. Winehouse to be funny, quick-witted, and rather sweet. But she's better off singing sober, I think. She's no Shane MacGowan.

I think you'll agree one could easily confuse the two though.
I had no idea this show existed and was surprised to learn it's been on the air for so long. I was thinking for better or for worse there's no way a music panel show of that sort would succeed in America, and sure enough Wikipedia says a VH1 version starring Marc Maron (exactly who I thought of) only lasted a month.

I like Lars Ulrich's wry appearance at the :18 second mark.

I like my little German friend Lars.

I agree, Sarah. I particularly liked the part where Amy hugged the sad train conductor.
-
Yeah. That could have annoyed me, too, but it seemed like she was actually being sincere. I think it's the way she worked to avoid kissing him on the lips that convinced me. Somehow, that added credibility to the gesture.
-
Anyways, pertaining to the Amy Winehouse discussion, here's another clip:

An innocent nose-wiping? Or something more illicit?
I'll go with the former, but I'm outnumbered on this one.
-
It could be quite innocent; after all, one's nose does run quite freely when one's in the habit of putting irritating things up it.
