Title: Maria Bamford and Matt Walsh
Post by: Fido on March 16, 2008, 01:51:13 AM
I'm kind of a big fan of Maria Bamford and was wondering if she'd be willing to be a guest on the Best Show.  Since Patton Oswalt and Zack Galifianakis and Paul F. Thompson are fans of the Best Show and have made appearances, maybe she would be into it.  Also, where has Matt Walsh been?  I loved his appearances on the Best Show.

Comedian guests are a lot of fun.  I'll stop meddling now.

I think Tom said Todd Barry will be appearing on the show in a couple of weeks as well.

Sorry about my message.  It sounds like something out of Parade magazine where possibly-phony letters-to-the-columnist appear, saying things like, "I really like so-and-so, e.g. Brett Butler or Kirk Cameron.  What are they doing these days and can I see them back on the screen?"  Damn, I'm depressed just thinking about it.

Guest comedians are great, and they're a tribute to Tommy's show, but The Kid doesn't need 'em.  Best Show stands just fine on its own two legs.

Can we turn this into a "Parade-magazine-letters-to-the-editor" thread, but directed toward Tom?

For example:

Dear Tom,

I really enjoyed the performance of Bruno S., the charming Stroszek actor who played the German alcoholic trying to start life anew in Wisconsin.  I wondering where he is now, and I'd love to listen to him to a guest spot on The Best Show.  When can we expect him?

Thanks,
Can't Stop The Dancing Chickens in Brooklyn

I do occasionally wonder if he'll ever have some lady guests.  Not to make this into a gender thing...

My favorite Parade question was:

"I really like the show Numb3rs.  But I've been wondering - is David Krumholtz really a math genius?"

Don't remind me.  ::)

Has it been confirmed that she's the broad who called in about I'm Not There?

Wait, did people have evidence it was her?

November 6, 2007 (http://www.wfmu.org/listen.ram?show=25147&archive=38911&starttime=2:13:07) - Laurie tries to turn The Best Show into Perez Hilton.

I'm thinking more along the lines of formal lady guest.  They get an introduction, talk for a while, isn't just in the background...
"That's Petra, by the way..."  I bet she's haunted by that.

maybe i can help here. bruno has gotten old and lives in berlin. we have a nosefluteorchestra there and bruno always visits the rehearsals in endart gallery in kreuzberg. he takes up the accordeon very rarely these days. he isn't in a good shape, hears badly, lost his teeth etc, werner herzog for sure doesn't look after him. would be difficult to have him over as a guest. the noseflute orchestra was covered in the wfmu blog some time ago, should be on there somewhere.

Welcome, Herm.  Wow, really cool that you've met Bruno S.  I found this link to the group you mentioned.  Thanks for posting.

How would one, if one wished to, post an mp3 on this site .  Tom?

Anyone?
Hello?
