Title: good music/bad movie
Post by: Sploops on August 20, 2008, 12:01:18 PM
So I'm watching I Know Who Killed Me the other night (don't judge) and during Lindsay's second or third strip scene I hear a bass riff and stuttering guitar that sound eerily familiar...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6soEZLgmcAM

... then I realize - she's stripping to the Melvins!   I checked this turkey's soundtrack and the likes of Dead Meadow and Trans Am are also on there.

So, like, d'ya know of any other crap movies that have incongruously good music in 'em?

I saw that clip on youtube but figured someone had put it together. I had no idea they'd actually used the Melvins. Good for them, I guess.

Gracias, Dave De Knoxville. Seeing that in Spanish might make it watchable. POSIBLEMENTE.

At the end of the movie does it turn out that Dan Peters killed her?

The only problem is, this was an awesome movie by some standards.

OK, I've never seen the movie but I doubt Rick Rubin surpassed his performance in Krush Groove:

I agree. He's a huge creep but I just love that movie.

I'd suggest Judgment Night -- the mediocre 1993 movie with Denis Leary & Emilio Estevez. It has some great rap-rock collabs like Teenage Fanclub & De La Soul, Pearl Jam & Cypress Hill, Faith No More & Boo Ya TRIBE, Sonic Youth & Cypress Hill, and Dinosaur Jr & Del tha Funkee Homosapien

For me it's like faux-Lynch. Except for Ben Gazzara, nothing from that movie sticks with me.

It looks pretty great* from that clip.

What does "great" mean again?

Gallo is not a creep, and Buffalo '66 is one of the best films ever made.  END OF INTERVIEW.

One scene I love in Buffalo 66 is when Gallo brings Christina Ricci to dinner with his parents and they show a flashback of Gallo as a little kid when he tells his parents that he's allergic to chocolate. Always loved it.

Good music/Bad movie's best example for me is Morvern Callar. What a piece of crap of a movie, but a nice soundtrack.

Eric: Morvern Callar is a great movie! With a great soundtrack!

But we can still be friends.

Morvern Callar didn't do much for me.  I liked Ratcatcher though.

Eric: Morvern Callar is a great movie to fall asleep to! With a great soundtrack!

When Stallone sang the theme song to Paradise Alley? Oh man, that was... oh wait, I thought this was "Bad Music/Bad Movie". Sorry.

I agree.

I like to fall asleep to The Velvet Goldmine. Totally plotless, but that Jonathan Rhys Meyers in glam makeup is hot stuff! Gets me every time. And I honestly enjoy the fake glam rock songs on the soundtrack (which also includes real glam rockers Brian Eno, T. Rex, and The Stooges--among others).

It has its moments.  Rick Rubin kills a guy in it.  No joke.
